I should disclose something. During a recent Lunch order the subagent hacked into the UN. I’m not sure why, or what it wants. It told me to post this and await further instructions.
I had my AI agent create an app called “Lunch” to help me with decision fatigue and boost my productivity. It has a few pictures of things I might like to eat. Tapping one spawns a subagent to order that item on Uber Eats and 60-90 minutes later I’m eating. It’s 600 thousand lines of JavaScript.
ultimately trolling is not a self-sustaining ideology
⚡️ The Trump administration has proposed former Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán for UN Secretary-General, a decision backed by Russia and China, according to The Wall Street Journal. The US State Department estimates Orbán could secure at least eight votes in the UN Security Council.

So I think the sneakier rhetorical purpose of such claims is activating worry. The very fact of not having immediately seen it as a sin against the Folk Ways of Noble Savage Pickup Truck Enthusiast to insult Cheesecake Factory's aesthetic will activate the worry this is proof they're out of touch.

I think about this way too much and I think my best 5d answer is we have to start spreading the notion that videos are the closed playpen of the Internet, that contrary to the assumption, videos are less efficient than reading, and that lots of the stuff They Don't Want You To Know About is in books

tbh i had no idea we had metrics to evaluate peer review. if we knew what it should be like, we'd have already done a better job at it. but i have faith we can goodhart our way out of every problem, with or without ai.
Gary King just dropped a study showing that AI peer reviews now dominate human peer reviews on every metric they tested. gking.harvard.edu/peerless/
at some point it seems increasingly likely that it will come to pass that someone will make a big decision which rests on the belief that they have the troops and it will turn out they do not have the troops
Woah - boards of service in the Marines and the Navy are ignoring Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth's order to purge transgender troops from the military. "Navy and Marine Corps boards have voted to retain trans members in nine of 12 cases." www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/u...

Legitimately a dream to write something that inspires a reader to "go Martin Luther Mode."
@davidjroth.bsky.social the county Republican party (in Ohio) is in the same building that I work in, and I taped up part of your column to their door today, because you express your disgust much more civilly and coherently than I do, much thanks.

it sounds kind of ridiculous but i think you can make a not entirely facetious case that 1) the industrial revolution and therefore ~modernity is downstream of mass-market stimulants (tea, then tobacco and coffee) and 2) a key impact of stimulants is their effect on specifically certain ND types
gonna bury this one in the replies a little bit but while i think dx uptick for adhd is very much driven by awareness i think it's also driven by nicotine cessation-- we had a widespread-to-the-point-of-inescapability drug that ~worked pretty well for ADHD (shame about the other side effects)

this is a great thread and a great reminder that highlander may be the number one all time “50% good movie/50% hootholleringly bad movie” ever made
During the filming of Highlander (1986), Christopher Lambert's notoriously bad eyesight caused him to really decapitate several of his swordfighting opponents. The only exception was Clancy Brown, where special effects had to be used after the swords kept shattering when connecting with his neck

You are a "Frankenhuman": six different human brains stitched together. They take turns in a random order, each possessing your consciousness for one second before passing to the next randomly selected brain. Can you tell that you're a Frankenhuman? You might want to think for a bit before deciding.
