Ballot drop boxes are the best! They're secure, and ballots get collected from them on the regular. Using a drop box also avoids making your ballot travel through the US Mail, which is the slowest method and can cause problems if your ballot winds up postmarked after the Election Day deadline.

I saw post asking what to call parents who refuse vaccines. The word you want is “free loader”: relying on others to vaccinate and take a tiny risk while you take none. This works until the system collapses under the free load. I used this rarely after long discussions. It worked. #pedsky #measles

Today 3000 people of San Francisco created the massive Human Banner on the Beach that you see below (as photographed from a drone above). Each of those letters is 100's of people working for 1 cause. Together we can save the country!

"They say they're coming to save us from some evil? They're talking about our neighbors who take care of us ... Alex was murdered while he was helping. Mr Rogers said look for the helpers, & right now the helpers have a target on our forehead ... Mr Rogers would be here right now too, so I'm here."

No matter why this person was subdued (and I doubt there was a good reason), this is torture. Demonstrates complete lack of ethical law enforcement. That’s why I support eliminating ICE. No funding!

I would, I think, normally have dismissed or at least shrugged at the Governor’s invocation of MN as a special place with its own ethos and distinct moral identity. But I lived there. And it’s true.

Proud to be a Pediatrician(retired), member of AAP, & to have worked closely for/with Public Health during the COVID pandemic. People want to forget how frightening those early days were, how grateful people were for the vaccine, how devastating the illness was for many families. #StandUpforScience

(1/3) Pediatric health care and strong public health agencies are two planks in the foundation of children’s health and wellbeing. CDC has long been a leading resource for research and evidence-backed recommendations on how to keep children healthy.

What brings a retired rural pediatrician to tears? -the memories of children seriously harmed by vaccine prevents illness (before & after vaccine introduced). Yet not a single memory of serious vaccine harm. We deserve better.

Replacing the US child vaccine schedule with Denmark’s schedule is negligence, writes @drdemetre.bsky.social “When a jet engine fails at 30,000 feet, it’s not the manual writer who pays the price. It’s the passengers — in this case, America’s children.” www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

The visual positive impact of vaccines is startling. In my early career, I asked elderly friends & relatives about childhood disease. Almost everyone had lost a sibling-including my Dad’s brother - likely RSV/Whooping Cough at age 2 months. #removeRFKJr graphics.wsj.com/infectious-d...

Best idea I’ve heard to deal with bad faith actors in #Republicanshutdown 1 month continuing resolution pledging vote to support each month provided administration renews ACA subsidies, does not impound/refuse to pay out federal dollars already promised @IndivisbleSF @Indivisible

I’m trying to hold on to hope of a better world, but my daughter telling me she heard the gunfire from the mass school shooting in her MPLS neighborhood this morning almost undid me. Please don’t offer thoughts/prayers. We need to fight the fascists AND make gun sellers liable for this. #pedsky

The TX campers deaths and injuries are senseless and tragic…and so are the school shootings that happen regularly. We will debate if the campers deaths was preventable, but we know that school shootings are preventable with gun sense laws. #thoughtsprayers

This makes me feel hope. A strong voice for children and families is what we need now.

I take public transit multiple times a week in SF. It is not dirty or scary. It’s clean and efficient and the app works great. Do I sometimes see folks who are struggling? Yes I do. Am I in a minority racial/ethnic group on the bus or train? Usually, and that’s ok. #SFmuni

Duffy: "If you're liberal, they want you to take public transportation ... the problem is that it's dirty. You have criminals. It's homeless shelters. It's insane asylums. It's a work ground for the criminal element of the city to prey upon the good people."

Remember those explainers of exponential growth of highly contagious COVID in unvaccinated populations? That prompted the shutdown? Measles is much more contagious.

Senator Ed Markey@markey.senate.gov

The US has surpassed 1,000 measles cases this year. It’s only the second time the US has hit this dangerous milestone in the past 30 years and it’s only May. This is the Make America Sick Again agenda.

Only 62%! I can’t imagine the internal thought processes of that 38%

National Service (think military, AmeriCorps, etc) is a force multiplier, a path to adulthood (age 25 for brain development), and a societal equalizer taking young people out of their home environment to see other viewpoints/life experiences. #americorps #service #learning #rebuild #redwingsnowstorm

I served in AmeriCorps when I retired from Pediatrics along side college students paying down college debt teaching SEL skills to 4 yo in preschool. We need MORE not less of this! @pedsky @Americorps @SMIF

When Elon was a kid, survival for ALL, the most common childhood cancer, was <10% Now it’s >90% due to funded collaboratives (high indirect costs) whose work ultimately SAVES THOUSANDS OF LIVES EVERY YEAR. For other cancers there’s still so much progress to be made. I think it’s worth it.

This visual loss is bone chilling to a retired frontline rural practice general pediatrician. I relied on CDC for reliable information to treat patients for conditions rarely seen. Data that we all paid for… #redwingsnowstorm #pedsky 🧪

As a pediatrician, grandmother, and citizen: This is outrageous and dangerous. Killer infectious diseases known and unknown are waiting for our most vulnerable, and we will not know the danger is here until too late. 😥 #redwingsnowstorm

What we’re done is create a massive information infrastructure which privileges conspiracy theories, demagoguery, bigotry, lies, and hysteria - much larger than the traditional news infrastructure. It’s the main information source for many. And then new political movements evolved to exploit it.
