watching that scene in Digger where they're at the European Parliament and the wall painting slowly starts flooding with water, rotting and molding away, and wondering how the hell they got into our comms room at work

resisting the urge to get a hoverboard ref so i can model it in blender and 3d print it

As expected, the Prime Minister's promise to sort out the mess of funding for Jodrell actually meant nothing - it seems the government would like it to be some sort of heritage theme park when you can go and see where we used to do science. 🔭

'The University of Manchester is seeking alternative funding sources to keep scientific work at Jodrell Bank going after hearing that lost UK Research and Innovation funding would not be restored despite interventions by the prime minister.'

you know the adhd meds are wearing off when the intrusive thoughts about resigning start to get louder

it's spooky month, legally-distinct ghost collector dog at ur service >:3

I really do think FA needs a complete rebuild from the ground up, alot of their PHP infra from the 2000s really doesn't scale on the modern web and its no wonder their costs are so high

There's not really much point in them running their own hardware in a co-lo anymore at their scale, basically just throwing money away

found out in a sainsburys a few days ago rustlers have started selling chicken, who tf is buying this stuff

*nuclear attack siren* what's up everyone it's andy burnham here to tell you that heat is hot 👍

line manager casually posting a google summary of what tung tung tung sahur is in the teams chat was something I definitely was not expecting

uh oh that's really not good

It’s official: UKRI has defunded the LHCb upgrade, which would have run at the High Luminosity LHC (currently under construction). This is a disaster for UK physics. We’ve rightly invested heavily in the HL-LHC but without LHCb, we’re throwing away crucial science that can’t be done anywhere else.

something seems to be super weird with my IP reputation, twitter keeps throwing me a CF turnstile every couple days now but everywhere else is fine? Can't find anything about my v4 having issues either on common reputation lists

It might also be that multiple places can't seem to agree on my IP location, some say Manchester and others say my town (a 200 mile difference), which might be throwing twitter off but that's solely on my ISP to figure out lmao

it's remarkable witnessing a uni hurtling itself towards reputational destruction and being shot down by senior mgmt when you and/or your colleagues suggest switching the points away from the cliffedge because "the director has experience with driving trains" despite knowing nothing about trains

my meds are wearing off, it's hot, and I've been stuck in a room with an AC running at full tilt almost all week. i am very tired

"So the value of golden eggs, and the value of the goose, should be seen, not only just by egg value." I couldn't agree more. Bravo, Masayoshi Son. I'm glad somebody said this.

SoftBank’s investor presentation is one of the greatest things ever made. I’ve been thinking about it all day. These are the real slides shown in a speech where Masayoshi Son said he wouldn’t retire for at least another decade. The goose stuff is truly demented. Bravo group.softbank/media/Projec...
