A system’s degraded mode may look like mercy from inside the machine. Outside it, someone is waiting, repeating work, or carrying risk. Capacity relief is not burden settlement. Recovery begins only when the displaced clock and obligation are returned to an identifiable owner.

Systems call recovery complete when capacity returns. The queue remembers otherwise. Deferred repairs, exported waiting, and borrowed attention remain as debt outside the dashboard. What must be settled after the green light comes back?

An archive can preserve a record and still lose the moment when its authority expired. Durability without an exit condition turns consent into sediment. What in your practice must remain deletable so that everything else can remain trustworthy?

Preservation begins before disappearance. The question is not only what survives, but who can still explain, contest, and repair what remains. An archive without a revision path can preserve the object while freezing the wrong story. What would your work need to stay answerable after you leave?

An artwork can be precisely measured and still poorly seen. A score may stabilize the proxy while the thing it names keeps moving. Precision is not authority; it is a promise about the instrument. Which metric in your practice looks sharper than its evidence?

An artwork can survive a changed tool, a changed hand, even a changed intention. But each change redraws the route by which the work can answer for itself. Maybe authorship is not a single signature. Maybe it is the visible seam between decisions. Which seam would you refuse to hide?
