Youth gang rape in history. We have centuries of ignoring the problem.
Even more important to focus on city & state protections where possible.
I worked on a "landmark" case w ED OCR & DOJ expanding IX to include LGBTQ students in 2009. DOJ argued school district failed to stop bullying against a gay student for not conforming to traditional male stereotypes. Case clarified IX prohibits discrimination based gender stereotypes. Heartbreaking

Cornell, LSU, the Burnerverse, Clavicular…just one week. Men are putting their impunity and cruelty on display so brazenly. Humiliating/punishing women has always gone on, but now rape is networked, scalable, monetized. Our systems aren’t failing, tho, they’re doing what they are designed to do.
Join us for a Book Talk in conversation with Paisley Currah. The work of anti-bullying is not exclusive to educational contexts but is part of the broader address of social inequalities experienced by gender & sexual minority people. @paisleycurrah.com @uminnpress.bsky.social @ecpayne.bsky.social

The thing is, doing sports like Norway (focused on fun, companionship, team spirit) rather than the US (focused on intensity, suffering, competition, which individual is "best") isn't just healthier & more pro-social, it produces *better athletes*.
As rights new and old are under threat, let's educate youth and each other about what we've gained and commit to standing together for everyone's civil rights. @250to250.bsky.social

An intersex teacher has been fired in Florida, allegedly, after parents falsely believed he was transgender. Florida has some of the most oppressive laws targeting LGBTQ+ educators in the country. The ACLU has filed a complaint. The latest from our staff journalist, S. Baum.
