When you see a negative comment about something you love, try this simple test: 1 Did you love it before the negative comment? 2 Do you still love it after the negative comment? If the answer to 1 and 2 is “yes,”then: 3 Why are you upset? Go love your thing. No one’s stopping you.

On the flip side, today in class when a kid complained that he couldn’t copy and paste text from a PDF, I said, “Kim, there’s people that are dying.” It went over their heads.

Today in class, I freaked out my freshmen when I said “clock that” (with gesture). When I saw how horrified they were, I immediately followed up with, “It’s giving cringe.” Bedlam ensued.

Parents, please check your kids’ candy this Halloween. I’ve just found an ancient metal whistle with the inscription “QUIS EST ISTE QUI VENIT" inside a Snickers bar. I blew it and heard a note of infinite distance, and now I’m haunted by a figure in pale, fluttering draperies. Be safe.

An important PSA: You are under no obligation whatsoever to have any engagement with the reboot of Glee. Your life can be the same the day after it premieres as it was the day before.

Welp, another person I really liked on Instagram made a stupid fucking AI video and posted it. So there’s another one off my follow list. Worst of all, this person is a creative artist. Talk about slamming your own dick in the car door.

I know it's one of my annoying traits (of many), but the more frenzy I hear around something, the less interested I am in engaging with it. So, enjoy your Wide-Eyed Fraudstress documentary and wake me when everyone shuts up about it.

Signature's Merrily production is terrific. Great performances, smart staging. If you're in DC, go see it!

Tonight’s performance.

Why is it so hard to make a good stupid movie these days? Stop That Train (tonight’s feature) was awful, as was Fackham Hall. The only recent good stupid movie was The Naked Gun.

After last night’s concert shenanigans, I’m feeling every year of it this time around.

It’s National Coming Out Day! 🏳️‍🌈 And it’s also my Coming Out of the Womb Day. Coincidence? You decide.

I’m utterly exhausted, but Jessie Ware was fantastic.

Thoughts and prayers as we drag our middle-aged carcasses downtown for a pop concert.

Whenever I find myself fussing over the details of an outfit, I remind myself that people go out in public in socks and sandals, and I relax.

A lot of people get really upset if you overgeneralize about groups of people. Unless, of course, you’re generalizing about boomers or zodiac signs. Then, it’s totes cool.

Given how old Ryder looks, I think Gemma is going to reveal that he’s not her son, but her brother. Kind of a reverse Kat/Zoe thing. #EastEnders

I watched a late-70s rerun of this with an older cousin, and I had nightmares for weeks. That little fucker freaked me out.

Happy to report that the Folger redeemed themselves after their ghastly Romeo and Juliet I walked out of a year or two ago. This was a good production of a tricky play.

If I keep blocking phone numbers, eventually the political beggars have to run out of ones to text me from, right?

I reached a 100 answer streak in Duolingo. Then, two questions later lost it. Gone like it never happened. This is why I hate games with streaks.

Oh, yeah, let's get one thing straight. See, I never heard about “Choosin’ Texas,” I never saw “Choosin’ Texas,” I don’t give a fuck about “Choosin’ Texas.”.

This “no coffee in interviews” nothingburger irritates me. It shows how few people realize that a job interview is about more than qualifications; it’s about if you come across as a good fit for the company personally. Some are OK with the coffee, some ain’t. You’re taking your chances. Grow up.

I impulsively left the single word “intertextuality“ on a classroom whiteboard, and I hope its unexpected presence changes someone’s life.

Insight into my weird brain: This morning when U2’s “Mysterious Ways” came on the shuffle, all I could think was why Desperate Housewives never used it as a promo song… “🎵 She lives on Wisteria Lane🎵”

You can’t tell me these aren’t AI-generated people. I don’t believe either one is real.
