when people say "nobody knows how to read a map anymore" i want to explode tf you mean? of course we do. we have a map in our pocket every day. the fact that this map also has a gps is irrelevant

same with "nobody knows how to do math anymore because of calculators" shut up shut up shut up find me 1 person who can't add 18+15 "nobody knows how to read a sundial" what?? "nobody knows how to churn their own butter anymore" yea all those blacksmiths were getting real dumb because of this

i am too stubborn for my own good i refuse to use references unless strictly necessary, so when i make a breakthrough like this i feel proud, but i still think i'm holding myslef back sometimes #dragon #furry #furryart #maw #ibispaint

i've been waiting for oidn 3 to come out for a long time now, seems we're finally getting release timeline what this means is that #blender animations will be able to be rendered faster and in higher quality on weaker hardware release timeline seems to be december, and full release is early 2027

this means that blender compositor may get some kind of simulation node in the future. they didn't announce it but one can hope :p they said they trained this on small amount of data and their disclosure that this is not a gen ai, trained through theft, or running on datacenters was a nice touch

slow down the jitter where oidn 3 seems to largely reduce it this works through motion vectors, but there are patterns not captured through motion vectors like changing shadows and as expected, shadows can look really bad in previews when moving lights are involved, though not always

i noticed another interesting thing - previews start off similar to current oidn but jitter slowly fixes itself after around 3-5 frames in previews scene changes obviously aren't looking nearly as good, denoiser has to start from scratch for them i am guessing that since this is temporal denoising

oidn 3 is basically like dlss for blender. you get fast previews (because of upscaling and temporal denoising) they also said that upscaler uses the same data as denoiser to help with maximizing image quality, which means this is inherently better than regular ai upscale, but point of this is to

help with previews, not the final renders most important feature though is temporal denoise. everyone who tried animating in blender knows that rendering produces that horrible jitter that's only fixable with maxing out sample rate i tried some addons that add temporal denoise but those merely

the logic is as follows take in ray position p and vector v as input data plug vector into c of mandelbulb z=z^8+c, 4 iterations take resulting z and do res=norm(z-p) mix with original vector v = v*0.99 + 0.01*res proceed with ray tracing (in my case it's 32 steps at 0.1 unit interval)

ai is not a tool, it's culture war culture war against human competence, intelligence, community, quality, friendships, relationships, and in favor of consumerism this is why ai sucks tool is for what it does. hammer is for hammering nails. warhammer is for killing people

you can use warhammer to hammer in nails, but you'll probably break you wall you don't have to accept that this is what hammers will always look like, and you don't have to give big warhammer company any credit ai (as it is) is not here to stay, but some kind of ai might emerge and stay after crash

ai bros have to be the most fragile group out there not even trying to be mean, when you debate one and express even the most remote disagreement or questioning of their narrative they always 1 - attack you through some kind of ad hominem 2 - if this fails to shut you up they block you

this happened multiple times. a few times it happened the moment i started to ratio them, and on bsky when you block someone their reply is hidden for everyone if ai is so good why do this? it's because this is and always was a propaganda wing of culture war

well i'm not sure what i expected, but this weird fractal pattern certainly wasn't it it's not out of the question that i made a mistake, but i'm not convinced if that's the case or not #fractal #noneuclidean #blender

these fractals seem to emerge closer to coordinate center, which makes sense since cylindrical space should curve light more strongly in center i wish i could say more about this though but i'll have to rethink / review this later on

it seems that retiming and audio modifiers in #blender video editor clash. retiming cancels out audio modifiers, bleh, what a shame and you can't add audio effects onto a meta strip (grouped strips) and retiming meta strip which contains audio effects in them crashes blender

i tried to create equation for converting cartessian to cylindrical point-velocity for my non euclidean render experiments, but i'm too tired to focus worst is, i feel like i'm close but i can't focus to clean up equations to figure out what i'm missing doesn't help i'm bad at naming variables

idea is this - take initial position motion vector turn that motion vector into cylindrical motion vector then get next ray position and convert it from cylindrical space to cartesian 3d coords then ray trace through geometry towards that coordinate easy if you know what you're doing, which i don't

maybe this is a hot take but #lesbianspaceprincess had 7.1/10 score on imdb in 2025 and 6.1/10 in february this year today it has 4.1/10 i don't buy that hate accurately reflects it's quality

i don't know if i'm unique in this, but trying to change can be so exhausting it gives me headaches sometimes it feels scary to see people who are similar to me but more successful, not because i'm jealous but because i'm reminded of change i am still to undergo but i made it out of depression

and the biggest reason i managed is because i was willing to change, despite how overwhelming it was i like to measure progress in terms of speed - how fast it took me before and how fast it takes me now to change. it helps contextualize how much growth i managed to achieve just a vent

i'm in love with this discovery i made that you can straight up mess with how ray tracing works in #blender if you know what you're doing this is all camera light rays bending to the right. small view in top left is what regular rendering would look like #b3d #3d

my #ibispaint speedpaints straight up last forever. it says i worked on my current canvas 27 hours, and it's not even done yet but in fairness there's like 50 different artworks and sketches on it, maybe it's not the best way to practice but it's my way

ai companies don't necessarily lie, but they aren't telling the truth either it's a secret third thing. those who lie and those who tell the truth both care about what's true, they're just on different sides of it ai companies however are indifferent to truth

they don't have a coherent narrative of what's going on. they simply say whatever will get them more attention and power, be it truth or lies or whatever by exposing their lies we don't destroy the narrative because there is no coherent narrative. it's hundred different unconnected little things

but we should still expose their falsehoods i just think we need a better strategy for understanding them when they say something new we assume "maybe there's truth to it" or "they're lying again" but better question is "do they think saying this will buy them more time?"

here is another momo, one of my favorite artworks of her i did done in #krita this was done in reference to that markiplier clip where he says "girl? does that mean you don't have balls?" and i thought it'd be funny for this to be response #furry #art #cat #oc
