Book madness season is coming up, and I'll be more online than offline again in the following weeks. Still, I'll try to avoid too many online distractions, so if you need to reach me, email is preferred. Thanks!

Telling another human being what "the AI says" about their suggestion is the most disrespectful und mindless form of interaction I ever encountered. Still brooding, and one email away from losing a contract.

Logged in to my webpage because of the PHP thing and had a look around. Not sure why I'm still doing this, though. About 70-80% of traffic I get is from Chinese and US bots trying to exploit wordpress or store logins that do not exist.

If the current calculation holds true, there are 22 chapters that still need to be written, ideally til end of the year. That's not great, but ... something like a plan

We need a new internet. An internet without bots and agents, not owned by oligarchs.

“The internet is a store but it used to be a library” hits me like a slug to the chest

Cyberspace used to be counter culture. It was punk. You could be whatever you liked. Access any information. Trade music. Create communities. Prove everybody wrong. Tons of stuff parents, teachers, politicians didn't even imagine. That's why guys like Musk passed as "rebels" 25 years ago.

Today's big tech is consumerism. It's control. It's a means of alignment, telling people what to buy, who to vote for, who to be friends with, how to think more like AI. Counter culture is not using it. It's to disobey. To remain independent. Being anti AI is punk in this environment.

Tis the season again The season of "EITHER give up on earning 180€ right now OR call in sick tomorrow morning and be a shitty colleague"

Danke für den schönen Bericht. Ich fühle mich auch jedes Jahr wie in einer parallelen Welt. Conventions als Eskapismus!

"Chasing the Wonder", my new short story. "When the family moves, Esmi is delighted living in a house next to a forest that promises secrets and adventure. But why should she dream carefully? And what’s up with that squirrel on her window sill?"

When Grammy-winning musician Rhiannon Giddens begins playing “Old Corn Liquor,” a traditional Black American folk tune, acclaimed Chinese pipa virtuoso Wu Man recognizes similarities to Chinese pentatonic music and spontaneously joins in. The joy on their faces says it all.

They're really incredibly bitter when fresh from the tree. But it will take only three weeks until they get tasty ... ... or until I'll throw them away.

I (kind of) cleaned up my room and found an old Perry Rhodan bag with 20y+ old merchandise and flyers. When it tore, I got hit by a chapbook of poetry I wrote way before the publication of my first novel. In my addled mind, the poems constituted a non-canonical eighth chapter to Fairwater ...

... featuring experimental stuff like inversed sonnets and made-up rhyme schemes. I had two of these chapbooks bound by a Heidelberg photocopy shop, and they did an awesome job considering the fold-out-pages and everything. For nearly fifteen years, I was convinced I had lost mine.

Eagle-eyed readers might note the almost total lack of hyperlinked evidence for this paragraph's many sweeping generalizations. Among them, that young readers want TOUGH GUY cultural objects that are cruelly being denied them by all these meddlesome women, when, in fact...

I don’t want to have AI do my writing for me. I don’t want it to design recipes for me. I don’t want its art, its music, its videos.

Sad to see those two games disappear from the stores. Working on those was a highlight of my career, not just because it is a legendary adventure series, but because of the great people involved.

I RP'd about it last night but here's a full article. Also that full picture of Margaret standing next to the print out of the computer code that helped land men on the moon, stacked as tall as she is, it probably my favourite historical photograph of all time. R.I.P. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I didn't quite get the hang of it yet, but that's an endorsement if there ever was one!
