Up and at 'em-- MIL has a Dr appointment so I missed early morning yardwork- looked at some air/hotel pkgs for Cairo& Dubai next summer- put out food for the birds. I still miss mornings & evenings on my balcony in Bali.

The critically-endangered Tapanuli orangutan was only discovered in 2017, and only around 650 remain after recent landslides killed an estimated 58 of them - a huge proportion of the species wiped out in one disaster.

Orangutans are fascinating: they build a new nest to sleep in every day, and sometimes include rain covers, a pillow, and even ‘dolls’ or a set of small branches they hold, with no clear practical function. The good news is that it’s not too late to save them, but it must be now.

We need: 🚫 A permanent halt on deforestation in Tapanuli orangutan habitat 💸 Financial support from companies which have profited from deforestation, such as palm oil, rubber and paper companies 🔎 An IUCN study to evaluate the Tapanuli orangutan and point to a concrete pathway forward
