Emancipate yourself from digital slavery, as Bob Marley would have said.

Elon Musk not only controls the satellite systems that the Ukrainian army - and other European armies - rely upon, he also controls the algorithms that govern a large swathe of the European information space. Europe needs to decouple from this clear and present threat to their security. My latest

Go 4 it!

Trump and Vance have treated Zelenskyy like shit, his son has called him corrupt and made fun of him repeatedly, Musk and his buddy Sacks have been throwing out pro-Russian narratives for years on X. The real surprise is that the US took this long to abandon Ukraine. Not that they did.

Putin, the humanitarian (Witkoff), at work

MeidasTouch@meidastouch.com

Ukrainian journalist Illia Ponomarenko recalls witnessing the aftermath of Russian attacks on civilians trying to flee. “Half-burnt bodies lying on the asphalt” beside the wreckage of their cars. “Something that you would expect to see in horror movies, but it's absolutely reality.”

Russia has won the Cold War.

Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff to Vladimir Putin today: “You talk so much about Trump being a humanitarian, you are a humanitarian also, sir. And I salute that. I commend you.”

Ralph Janik reposted

Being Ukrainian and hearing US envoy Witkoff actually calling Putin ‘humanitarian’ (?!) while he bombs my people is disturbing on a new level of disturbing I didn’t know it could reach .

And the US president thinks all these countries’ leaders are his friends or, in the case of Iran, respect him. Yeah, right.

Report from @csis.org: the Alabuga drone factory is 4-country joint effort: 🔹Iran provided the design and manufacturing expertise 🔹North Korea supplies mass labour 🔹China supplies batteries, engines, electronics, etc 🔹Russia built the factory and fires the drones at Ukraine

Madness. Sheer madness. This is not a partner. Not for Europe, not for the Middle East, not for Canada, not for anyone. Ok, Russia and North Korea maybe.

😳 Trump loses it and SNAPS at a string of reporters, says Ilhan Omar might "go to jail," calls Somalia "a shit house," and boasts that thanks to a new program he announced today Americans "will make millions of dollars by turning others in" during absolutely deranged Oval Office event Supercut:

I have yet to find a rational explanation for this "deal" other than that Trump is owned by Putin or simply adores him for no reason whatsoever instead of recognizing that he is a sad little man.

President Trump announced a new diesel deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin on October 9 to the surprise of many U.S. allies. Experts argue the agreement could undercut Western economic pressure on Russia and solidarity efforts with Ukraine while doing little to lower fuel prices.

"The American commander in chief has abandoned the Western order, the most successful—and powerful—security arrangement in human history ... he has not done so out of a cold calculation of the national interest. Instead, he has based his decisions on his own interests"

Tom Nichols@radiofreetom.bsky.social

Humiliating and dangerous: Trump has now finally just made America an ally of the Kremlin and is aiding Putin in his war against an American friend and partner. Shameful betrayal of a US friend, and pathetic submission to a US enemy. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1...

We are being bombarded with Trump Trump Trump for more than ten years now. I'm so tired of him and his corrupt/incompetent entourage. Can we move on please.

The US is on Russia's side. China is on Russia's side. North Korea is on Russia's side. Iran is on Russia's side.

Ukraine’s Air Force says US intelligence warning did not arrive during Russia’s evening ballistic attack on Kyiv, forcing Ukrainian forces to detect the missiles themselves. A US warning arrived around 3 a.m., but too late for a full response, Yurii Ihnat said. #Ukraine

I never understood how state debt works. 2 trillion? TRILLION?!

Everybody needs to be crystal clear that “the deal” in Trump’s mind is Ukrainian surrender. Of course, Putin wants it. But neither Putin nor Trump can compel it or wishcast it.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Q: How are going to make Putin abide by the ceasefire? TRUMP: I think what's happening is he wants to make a deal and we have to get Zelenskyy to want to make a deal. I think Putin wants to make a deal more than Zelenskyy.

The talk about free speech was never about free speech

Don Moynihan@donmoyn.bsky.social

Over the last decade, there were two hypotheses: H1: the political right genuinely cared about threats to speech from the left. H2: they were using campus speech wars to impose their values and silence dissent. Today, the answer is clear, but I can't find any of the H1 people admitting their error.
