I hate when people online complain about shit in a way where it's like "OMG, I can't believe this [obvious intended joke] was in the movie! I can't take this seriously anymore!" and like yeah dude that's literally the entire point of a fucking joke.

I might get hate for this but I have to say it: The internet's obsession with "femboys" is entirely based around transmisogyny. Right-wingers who historically fetishized transgender women have simply been switching to "femboy" because they think "at least he isn't pretending he's a real woman."

"Femboy" has basically just become a more socially-acceptable transmisogynistic slur. I'm aware that it didn't originally start out that way, but this is NOT the first time that bigots have co-opted an innocent term and used it for their usual hatred. Just look at the term "woke" for an example.

We need to start calling this shit out. The way that nobody bats an eye at transgender-fetishization in plain sight JUST because they swapped "tranny" for "femboy" is ridiculous. Even if you don't agree with my take of "femboy" being a substitute term, should we let that identity be defined by porn?

I'm aware there are people who identify as femboy who *aren't* just playing into that, but that's a niche subculture and the reality is that 99% of the internet's usage of the term is "a trans-girl I feel less weird gooning to". Remember: these people think that ALL transfem people are "femboys".

That's why we see straight men who will say "liking trans woman makes you gay" while also saying "it's not gay to like femboys". It's because they've just lazily updated the old "being into chicks-with-dicks isn't gay" into modern transphobic mentality without noticing the cognitive dissonance.

The reason the term "femboy" is almost exclusively used in pornagraphic contexts is exactly for that reason. Femboys in porn *are* functionally "apolitical" substitutes for trans-women, and in fact many "femboy" porn stars are just trans women who use the more misgendering terms get more clicks.

The fact people are so upset about this is so unbelievably dumb to me. A video mentions a strange obscure conspiracy theory and debunks it. Oh no! The horror! Seriously, how self-aggrandizing do you have to be to throw a fuss about this. It's a totally normal thing to see on YouTube, in general.

DidYouKnowGaming@didyouknowgaming.com

[NEW VIDEO ON YOUTUBE] Did Nintendo kill Game Boy creator Gunpei Yokoi? We investigate the long-running conspiracy theory and separate the rumors surrounding his death from the facts.

Debunking conspiracy theories is actually kinda fun, and trying to understand why they believed in that to begin with is part of the appeal. It's a fun thought exercise, even if the ultimate obvious conclusion is "the theory is wrong" is inevitable. Like, how much of a stickler are these people?

They'll say, "Oh, you shouldn't platform it" What, we're not allowed to talk about anything immoral or incorrect, even in criticism? That's so ridiculous.

Wanna know one of my all time most hated things? The way the internet fetishes like every single fucking character. Look, I get that porn will always exist, and that's....fine, I guess? My problem is how this bleeds into online discussion. It's just INESCAPABLE, even in what should be SFW spaces.

The only solution to this issue is for the wider culture to GROW UP and hold each other accountable for this sort of behavior. Unfortunately, that'll likely never happen. The objectification of women's bodies is far too deeply ingrained in our society, no matter how much people fight against it.

(before you ask, I don't want social media sites to use filters/automatic bans. What I'm asking for are for users to hold each other to a higher standard by calling each other out. That's a different thing from social media censorship.)

This all without mentioning the elephant in the room, which is that the internet is filled with actual children. Maybe, just maybe, we shouldn't dominate every single discussion about *children's activities* with grown men gooning over the age-appropriate female characters. That should be obvious.

Anyway, enough ranting. I think I made my point clear, but just to be safe: - I'm not asking to ban porn. - I'm not asking for social media sites to police conversation. - I'm not shaming anyone for simply being attracted to something. I am shaming the aforementioned sense of entitlement online.

Combine that with the entitlement, and that's how we get a modern internet where these men run wild nonstop, all the time, every day. Since nobody's willing to call them out under risk of being called a "puritan" or equated with groups that want to censor art, it just amplifies more and more.

And yes, I *know* that what you like in porn does not nessicarly corrolate to what you like IRL. However, as a reminder, I'm not talking about porn! I'm talking about the way this stuff dominates daily, ordinary conversation and culture. That sort of thing goes beyond personal sexual attraction.

Toxic men cannot accept that there are women, whether IRL or fictional, who do not exist to give them a boner. Everything must be filtered their their fetishistic, misogynistic lens. The way you're willing to treat fictional characters says a lot about how you'd want to treat real people.

The "it's just fictional!" argument is literally just saying, "Well, they aren't real, so I get a free pass to treat them however I like." So, it's something you *would* do to irl women, but can't because it's not socially acceptable enough for you to get away with treating real women like that.

In actuality, video game women look creepy now for the same reason video game men look creepy now: uncanny valley realism mixed with bad lighting techniques and bad hair physics. But while uncanny men are viewed as what they are (technical mistakes), uncanny women are viewed as "an attack on men".

These gamer bros don't care about the realities of game development for the same reason they post comments about their boners in SFW spaces. Wanna know why? Here's a hint: it's also the reason they send unsolicited dick picks and send death threats to ordinary lesbians. It's pure entitlement.

It says, so, so, so, so much about the entitlement of these people when they can't even look at a normal, nonsexualized female character without thinking about her having sex with them. Yes, I *know* that they're fictional characters, but these attitudes towards sex carry over and become universal.

It's incel behavior, plain and simple. It's a massive red flag if the only way you can express your enjoyment of a female character is talking about their attractiveness. Just look at gamer bros who complain about fictional women being "ugly" now, causing huge culture warrior fits about "woke mobs".

That is to say, transitioning is also a mental process. Unlearning ingrained behaviors is a very important step in the process, and one many trans women skip over, especially terminally online ones. Unfortunately, a lot of trans women were former incels who just carried that baggage over unchecked.

Speaking of, let's transition *back* to the original subject at hand. The way that internet people fetish things online is so fucking strange, because they basically act as if every female character (and yes, it mostly happens to female characters outside jokes/niche spaces) exists to be attractive.

I could go on another rant about how a lot of "transfem culture" online tends to just be the exact same fetishistic shit that men say and do, but filtered through an "UwU" lens. You can tell that a lot of these people have their only experience of "womanhood" coming from porn and anime.

I get that life is hard and transitioning isn't easy, but for the love of god a lot of these trans women just repeat the exact same things that creepy cis men say verbatim. So many trans women never bothered to unpack the misogyny they were taught as men and it's *painfully* obvious.

Online men (and yes it's almost always men) will NOT shut up about how they want to fuck every living or nonliving thing. Stop posting your damn fetish art in nonfetish spaces and stop bragging to millions about your damn boner. I don't want to fucking hear it! Keep those comments to porn sites ffs.

I complain about this constantly irl, but online because I *see it* constantly online. It's aggravating. And yes, I know that some women do it too, but they aren't the ones always dominating media discussion. Plus, the women who do it the most tend to be trans, which... internalized misogyny much?

Diddle me this, America: I exist, yet I do not. I'm available for all, yet available for none. I'm hundreds of pages long, yet impossible to read. I have nothing of importance, yet I reveal all the biggest secrets. People deny I exist, yet exist here I am. What am I?
