[NEW VIDEO ON YOUTUBE] Did Nintendo kill Game Boy creator Gunpei Yokoi? We investigate the long-running conspiracy theory and separate the rumors surrounding his death from the facts.

I saw it yesterday in my feed and it was the most tasteless, disrespectful title and thumbnail i have ever seen on youtube regarding the topic. What the fuck, DYKG? Between this and the framing of the heart attack of that Retro employee on your cancelled Zelda games video, i'm so appalled.

This is a debunking of a conspiracy theory, hence the line in the original post “[we] separate the rumors surrounding his death from the facts.” The thumbnail has been updated to make the intention of the video obvious.

nah m8 it's not the thumbnail what's the issue but the topic itself, and I'm sure you were already aware of the response it was going to get even before uploading but you know, any engagement is good engagement as they say 🥱

It's the thumbnail, the topic, but even with this wording, you open with "Did Nintendo kill Gunpei Yokoi?" when people come to you for information they can trust. When you end it with "separate fiction from fact," they will assume there is even a nugget of truth to it. This was just irresponsible.

I wasn't even aware this WAS a conspiracy theory in the first place until you posted the video, your channel has a lot of reach and acknowledging this stuff is giving them way more attention than they deserve.

like dont get me wrong a lot of people are saying the problem is that youre "giving airtime to a conspiracy theory" but the fact is you HAVE to do that if youre going to prevent it from spreading further. i just think yall couldve been a bit more respectful regarding the framing

I guess I'm confused by the angry comments here. This video (while the original thumbnail was a little clickbaity) is addressing the conspiracy by providing receipts that the wider English speaking world didn't have access to before.

It's not like they're giving someone their platform to argue in favor of this rumor and then ended their video by saying "I GUESS WE'LL NEVER KNOW!" By addressing an uncomfortable topic, they've given us a definitive place to point to when theorists try to push this lie. How is that bad?

Hey friends. Giving this the time of day in the first place is why people are upset. Everyone already knew the conspiracy theory was a conspiracy theory. We don't need to give this stuff air time because doing so implies the possibility that there is an argument to be had when there isn't :)

so you guys steal footage and make tasteless conspiracies into content. awesome gonna be a SICK "The Fall of DYKG" video essay in five years after you do a couple more insane things

im gonna go against the grain and say its actually a good thing to put this shit to rest because ive been seeing it float around and it needs to stop. however, you should definitely change that title to something less clickbaity

Hey, love your channel, major inspiration in my video editing work. I'm not sure if this thumbnail and title was a good idea. It does grab some eyes but in all the ways i feel betrays the channel? I'll give it a watch and see where i land later.

1. I saw the update title, thanks for changing that! 2. Good video as always, i was glad to feel like the title and thumbnail painted a scarier picture than it actually seemed.

Yes Miyamoto came for Yokoi-san in the night, in the rain, amongst the fog in a detritus-strewn alleyway in Tokyo away from the neon city lights

I believe some voice actors do have the whole thing or at least some episodes in their personal collections on VHS. its been confirmed (I asked about it at a recent convention). It was a Sonic themed event that had 4Kids VAs there as guests. I hope someday soon we get to see more of it
