Facebook started giving me random notifications for suggested friends. In my confusion, I clicked on one. And now I've taught Facebook that it can trick me into opening the app by showing me random friend suggestions. The programmers are desperate and it's kind of sad how far the app has fallen.

We’re always hiring single moms who lived a hard life down at Second Chances diner! It doesn’t matter what year it is, we will always put you in a 1950’s uniform. Check out our full podcast episode on the 1994 classic film Forrest Gump wherever you get your podcasts today!

Love how you can be in the middle of a video on Instagram and then your finger accidentally grazes the screen and the video changes and the one you were watching is hidden away forever. Love that. Super great user design. Peak usability.

Sometimes I get on here looking for hot takes but then I read some of the comments and I'm like "oh yeah the barrier to entry is literally zero and this app is also filled with absolute morons"

This whole Jimmy Kimmel debacle is going to boil down to one thing: Does Disney feel it's in their best interest to stand up to the Trump Administration and defend their programming, or not? A thread: (Full disclosure -- I am not a lawyer)

How does this benefit or hurt ABC and the Disney corporation? Do they risk a lefty boycott? Risk making enemies with the Trump administration? Do they want the headache of trying to restructure their broadcast operations in a dying medium? Do they give the Trump FCC an inch and let them take a mile?

I guarantee there are Disney boardrooms and zoom calls full of executives hammering this out right now. But it also really sucks that the future of freedom of speech is going to be determined by executives arguing over if it's better for their bottom line to defend a former Man Show host.

This is, and I want to be clear, absolutely CHILLING. But is there a 1st amendment violation? The biggest avenue here for 1A protection is Brendan Carr's actions. But Disney would have to argue that his THREAT was actionable and sue to defend. Sinclair and Nexstar are just being shitty businesses.

ABC may have contractual obligations that they can enforce their affiliates to air their programming, but they may not. But that also requires painful and expensive litigation. They might also seek affiliates, but that is risky and carries with it a whole other set of hurt. So the question is:

From what I've been able to piece together, reading between the outrage and the actual headlines, here's what actually happened: - Brendan Carr, FCC Chairman, THREATENED to pull ABC's broadcast license and has been poking at them for a few weeks

- Nexstar, who needs FCC approval to buy Tenga and obtain unprecedented media market ownership, threatens to pull Kimmel and potentially other ABC programming over Kimmel's perceived slight. - Sinclair, who has always been shitty, does the same ABC panics and "temporarily" suspends the show.

If I traveled back in time to tell mid-20s me that bill kristol was now to the left of many mainstream dems and the drudge report was a useful website in tracking the authoritarian trump dynasty I'm pretty sure younger me would have had older me euthanized

The folks hollering about “family values” are out here tearing families apart with unlawful ICE raids, militarized police, & the weaponization of government. All while ripping away food & healthcare from working-class families. Are the family values in the room with us?

Andor just makes me angrier and angrier at the sequel trilogy. Like they went through all this effort to defeat fascism but okay let's just undo it all with a new Death Star but bigger this time

I don’t know what to say about this but I have to share it. A lot of people exaggerate and sensationalize but this appears to be a woman with a student visa being kidnapped by masked “officers” for writing a Pro-Palestine op-ed. How is this not just textbook authoritarian secret police shit?

Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying. They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks. From WCVB: youtu.be/PuFIs7OkzYY

One of the reasons that Apple and Netflix have superior streaming app experiences (regardless of price or library) is that at their core, they're both software companies instead of movie studios playing at being one
