In Fiji, the Albanese govt will ask Pacific countries to trust its leadership on climate, while at home it considers approving Woodside’s Browse gas project, fracking in the NT’s Beetaloo and a big coal mine expansion in the Hunter Valley. #auspol www.acf.org.au/news/fiji-pr...

www.smh.com.au/business/mar... More than a few people have been highlighting the risks incumbent in Private Credit over the past year or two. Insiders will certainly have been aware. Yet hubris has seen some ignore the signals. Thus, sympathy for 'rich-listers' ought to be tempered accordingly.

smh.com.auThe private credit cockroaches eating our rich-listersSome of Australia’s rich-listers are getting burnt as private creditors get roasted by the failures of publicans and property developers. But that won’t be where the pain stops.

#SBSNews. A shout out to Claudia Farhart. Up to her knees in mud in Nepal. Just the latest in a recent array of reports from various disasters across Asia this year. Stoic and professional. Great work.

Near the end of ‘The Big Short’ Mark Baum says ‘…in the end…they will blame immigrants and poor people’. Never a more prescient piece of dialogue, and we just keep falling for it again and again. #auspol

#auspol Let's be honest. If the only way to achieve structural reform is to break an election promise, so be it. It was not the first time, and will not be the last. It is not as if they are blatantly looting the treasury or enriching themselves through insider trading 🤔 #USA

Coming soon to a supermarket near you. Is there any chance our erstwhile electoral representatives will preempt this practice in Australia? #auspol

Hours before the Iran ceasefire was announced, $1.4 billion in bets were placed on oil prices falling. It follows a pattern of insider trading linked to the Trump administration, writes Lachlan Keller. www.crikey.com.au/2026/04/09/d...

Time for Australian leaders of all stripes to condemn. #auspol

Killing a civilisation is a war crime. Threatening it is obscene. No country that does this is a worthy ally or friend of Australia. The world needs to respond with action to prevent these crimes.

What if the leader of the United States, who is in effective control of Australia's defence and foreign policy, is clearly unhinged? Would that make the War Parties here rethink their obsequious obedience to Washington? Because that's the state of play, as this latest Trumpian outburst proves.

2/2 Better to tax excess profits accruing to the latter and subsidising the former. Geopolitically induced market failures do not warrant ‘standard’ policy responses. #auspol

1/2 A general increase in prices as a result of higher energy prices, ought not necessarily prompt a rise in official interest rates. Higher energy prices are a transfer of income from energy consumers to energy producers. #auspol

What are the chances the Australian Government will condemn this egregious breach of international law? 0. #auspol #silenceiscomplicity

Remember when Congress authorized the use of force against Iran? Me neither. Any U.S. attack on Iran would violate U.S. and international law.

…and here it is. 🙄 “We support the United States acting to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and to prevent Iran continuing to threaten international peace and security." Albo. #auspol

Hit by the car? Yeah & I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. That’s why the dude is videoed able to walk away and the ICE truck rushed to drive him out even before medics arrived

I wonder. If you are buying Exxon shares today (up ~6% in futures trading) in anticipation of windfall profits arising from the 'operations' in Venezuela, might you technically be in breach of the Proceeds of Crime Act (2002) (Australia)? #auspol #Venezuela
