I tried watching Good Morning, America's Venezuela coverage. I couldn't do it. They seem to think the whole thing was really keen, and are approaching it with the level of enthusiasm usually reserved for sneak peaks of new movies emanating from Disney.

In case you missed this, the BBC edited a historian's speech about Trump to remove the claim that he's "the most openly corrupt president in US history." This came after Trump had threatened a $1 billion lawsuit. Elite capitulation continues. Read all about it here: newrepublic.com/article/2036...

newrepublic.comTrump Angrily Threatened to Sue BBC. Then Things Took a Darker Turn.First, British Broadcasting Corporation execs resigned after Trump complained about a segment. Now the BBC edited out a line from a historian that was critical of Trump. Where does this end?

Roberts and Brain Funeral Directors have asked us to clarify that, contrary to rumours, they are not actually two laboratory mice disguised as humans, one of them isn't a 'genius', and the other isn't 'insane' and they have no current plans to 'take over the world'.

Replying to @jamellebouie.net

The powers-that-be at NYT seem to be very selective about which standards they apply and which ones they don’t. Also, about who they apply those standards to. bsky.app/profile/donm...

Don Moynihan@donmoyn.bsky.social

New, from me: The Times published a piece accusing a man born in Africa as claiming to be African-American in a failed college admission. They viewed this story to be newsworthy enough to grant anonymity to a eugenicist working with hacked personal data. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/whos-afrai...

Since I administered the WH emoluments rules, let me explain why this is forbidden Trump expressed interest in it before it was offered He is going to use & benefit from it a while in office And he's going to keep using it after he leaves! Functionally, it's a gift to him & so it's illegal

Norm Eisen@normeisen.bsky.social

Overseeing the presidential gift rules was among my duties as White House Ethics Czar -- so I know how it's supposed to work The gift of this plane to Trump is illegal & unconstitutional The AG & the WH Counsel oughtta be ashamed of themselves for allowing it abcnews.go.com/Politics/tru...

For JD Vance, Jesus died for someone's sins on Good Friday, but it was only his and other converts who believe their only sins is not killing more immigrants, most of whom also happen to be Catholic, but not real Catholics like fascist wannabe Appalachia boy.

Imagine if Joe Biden had reposted a liberal pundit saying ‘shut up about gas prices’ in 2022. It would have led the news, all of the news, for days, weeks, on end.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

if there is one funny thing about yesterday’s blitzkrieg of executive orders is that it makes the “democratic opposition went too far last time” crowd look like total dipshits

The problem with pieces like this, which are countless, is the prevailing media assumption that left-of-center Americans need constant corrective instruction about how to be in and engage with the world, whereas right-of-center Americans are simply to be observed in awe, like rainbows or mountains.

Opinion - The problem with Bluesky: It won’t broaden our horizons: In the wake of Donald Trump’s election win, the social-media platform has enjoyed a surge of new users looking for an alternative to Elon Musk’s X. But will it be useful, if it just creates an echo chamber for the left?
