Those clips of Ta-Nehisi Coates interviewing Barack Obama, especially the ones referencing the Black radical tradition are sanitizing his image & fostering nostalgia for a "kinder, gentler" American imperialism.

There's so much intellectual dishonesty in platforming him in this way, it's counter-revolutionary. Don't let the pleasant tenor of his voice or his calculated cadence fool you

Oh and please miss me with the would you rather have Trump nonsense, I refuse to choose between different agents of the same empire, just cuz some of y'all lack courage, principles & political imagination.

When he says "they're my ghosts," I wonder if the ghosts of Pakistanis, Somalis, Yemenis, Palestinians, Afghanis & the countless others bombed by US airstrikes, drone programs, and American made and sponsored weapons haunt him too.

You can be an survivor, an abolitionist and still have your revenge fantasies. You're allowed to want your abuser dead. Abolition is neither passive, nor pacifist. We reject the state's monopoly on violence & on who is worthy of "justice" or deserving of punishment.

Everytime stories of sexual & gender based violence are widely shared in the media people say "well what do abolitionists have to say now?!?" First of all why are we in it? second of all you have carceral punishment now & the rapists are walking free & survivors are locked up & punished.

Every abolitionist imagines a range of interventions to transform the roots of sexual violence, to step up in instance of crisis & to take collective responsibility for the rampant sexual violence of an unjust world. Anyway, I love you & I hope your rapist drops dead.

I know the videos of RSF supporters in the Sudanese diaspora are angering & painful to many of us. Please remember that so many also support the SAF & their propagandist, self sanitizing rhetoric. For so many ethnically minoritized Sudanis & our kin in South Sudan, the SAF is also a death machine.

Civilian rule, self determination & reckoning with our histories of ethnic supremacy, internalized anti-Blackness & the afterlife of colonialism are the only way we can honor the martyrs, the generations who suffered under military rule & the revolutionaries of the last 100 years.

Bun Cornell & those 7 vile abusers. So many people are in friendships, group chats, teams, locker rooms, board rooms & all kinds of spaces/dynamics that trivialize & normalize sexual violence. So many people quietly give a pass for abuse & the culture that protects abusers & victim blames.

So many people routinely shame survivors & fail to speak up to protect vulnerable people. There are abusers & enablers in all our communities & so many of us actively & passively conspire with them.

We have to deprive rape culture of oxygen & make a world where we can know safety & justice. We owe it to all survivors & those of us who do not indeed survive.

Make no mistake, trampling treaty rights at the federal & provincial level, normalizing & platforming residential schools denialism (alongside genocide denial) & sanitizing Canada's history (& present) is exactly why the Second Sons felt comfortable setting foot in Tk'emlúps te Secwepemc.

A lot of us have to get so much more tolerant of and competent at working alongside people we do not like. Friendship is not a prerequisite for organizing & even people you can't stand have value & deserve to be free.

Shaq is worth half a billion dollars, he is showing (class) solidarity to his people. No one who is not a full blown clown volunteers as a part time cop and shakes hands with fascists while getting awards from the FBI. He *is* being accountable to his values of being a capitalist and a traitor.

It's normal to reuse take out containers, to mend old or damaged clothes, to use table cloths, sheets or curtains for fabric, to turn your left overs into a new meal, to have mismatched cutlery, to buy second hand & refurbished tech.

If Sudanese people can fly the Palestinian flag in the midst of the revolution & my comrades in Ramallah can call me to ask about my family in Sudan - western leftists can find a way to show principled solidarity to both struggles.

I've said time and time again that meaningful & principled solidarity with Sudan is more than just adding "and Sudan and Congo" onto the ends of your speeches. Solidarity requires relationships, an ongoing commitment to political education, action and risk.

I reject the idea that people are not focusing on Sudan because they're focusing on Palestine. So much of people's support of Palestine is conditional on Palestinians dying politely & never doing anything to resist annihilation - affirming Israel & US monopoly on violence by default.

Every other Instagram video: if you've been waiting for the waist snatching tights to go on sale, you're in luck! Not me, baby. Only thing I want to go on sale is RENT.

Ontario teachers are being forced by the Province to order their school supplies from Staples at a markup. This is happening while schools are struggling to raise funds for nutrition programs, fans for overheated classrooms, or to buy basic things like sanitizer & stationary.

the fact that the cuts to USAID made it so that Nepalese people didn't get early warnings about floods & Sudanese people are sick & starving due to the absence of medical & food security programs in war times is engaging. The billionaires & politicians & the billionaire-politicians are murderers.

So many people in our communities are living on the street as our phones alert us to take immediate cover from extreme weather events. More & more people are ending up on the street because they're losing their homes to climate disasters. We can't accept this from governments & political elites.

Removing bike lanes in Toronto will disproportionately affect & endanger working class people & migrant workers. The same people complaining about cyclists expect their food delivery workers to ride in unsafe streets for poverty wages so they can get their Starbucks delivery on time.

Being Sudanese will always be the biggest honor of my life. I am so grateful for the collectivism & ethos of care of our people. It has been the most essential political education & tool for survival. We owe each other everything.

More important than being critical of empire is our ability to feed & expand our political imagination: what other possible is possible? what do we stand to WIN? how did other people transform their conditions? what does freedom look like? Resist the capturing of your imagination, we will win!

Stephen Miller said a Chicago apartment building raided by immigration agents was “filled with terrorists.” So why is it that not a single person arrested that night was charged with a crime? 🎧 This is the real story behind the midnight raid. Listen on “Paper Trail”:

BREAKING: After the Washington Post fired me last year for speaking the truth in the wake of the Charlie Kirk killing, I fought back. And I'm happy to announce: I won my case against the Washington Post. They have been ordered to reinstate me immediately. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/24/b...

nytimes.comWashington Post Ordered to Rehire Fired Columnist Karen AttiahAn arbitrator ordered the newspaper to reinstate Karen Attiah, who was fired after posting about “white men who espouse hatred and violence” following Charlie Kirk’s killing.

Over the last 3 years of war in Sudan, I've had so many crushing conversations with survivors & organizers. The one that haunts me most was with a child who was brutalized, she said "God is punishing us because we could not bury my father before fleeing, we left his body in the street".

Rest in power Jason Arday. I feel every type of messed up over this. Black scholars are brought in to desegregate hostile institutions with their literal bodies. They're policed & scrutinized ad nauseam to pathologize them & cast them out so they can be found inherently at fault & deficient.

& people will cry about "academic standards" but anyone with sense in academia will know how rampant theft of labour, shielding of abusers, enabling of violence & dehumanization are in the institution. Miss me with protecting the ivory towers invested in white supremacy & genocide.

Abolition is neither passive nor pacifist. We work to build alternatives to prisons, policing, and other carceral institutions (as we fight to dismantle them). We do not preach non-violence, we reject the state's monopoly on legitimized violence.

Nearly every past atrocity was legal, nearly every liberatory movement to end it was not. Resistance is criminalized because oppressors write laws that protect their cruelty and make our objection to it illegal.

Happy Emancipation Day! Gratitude & grief for our stolen kin, who dared to liberate themselves. For all our ancestors who were born in chains, from Khartoum to Kahnawake, who fought & died so that we may fight & live. FREE UP my people, wherever we go may freedom find us.
