It's interesting to see that the industry isn't strictly clamouring to find out how their products are being used and baking all that infrastructure into the product 👀 What's notably not mentioned are products that RapidRecast competes with: Solace, Apache camel, Pie Socket etc. #streaming #realtime

New post! I wrote about malaise in the streaming space. I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm thinking part of it has to do with Kafka.

Thanks! The paper already exists - accord high throughout transactions. There is also inconsistent replication paper which is also leaderless, but not strict serialisable. Choosing which to use depends on product you are making

I'm going to do something really cool with rapid recast. I'm currently implementing a leaderless consensus algorithm with sharding to add fault tolerance and scalability. I'm then going to put it into a p2p cluster. Watch this space.

Rust conundrum: Gameboy advance provides sqrt via bios for unsigned natural 32bit numbers. To get the required accuracy, you shift the bits before and after sqrt. Rust provides sqrt compilation logic for f32. ...

I like bluesky and Reddit for the same reason. Content gets the same predictable traction. The algo is fair. LinkedIn on the other hand seems like an absolute scam.

I'm very excited for tomorrow. I've rolled out an authentication and rbac authorisation engine alongside a rudimentary web console. All in #rust. All type enforced. More info soon.

This is a really cool database. I will get round to checking it out soon

SlateDB is on fire right now. No other way to put it. WIPs: - range queries (Jason @ responsive.dev) - snapshots/transactions (@flaneur2024.bsky.social @ databend.com) - merge operator (David Moravek @ CFLT) - checkpoints (@rohanpd.bsky.social @ r.d) - ttl (@almog.ai @ r.d) RFCs below 👇

Look forward to tuning into this

Something is cooking.. will be ready soon. Stream processing it is, with @apurvamehta.com and @yingjunwu.bsky.social Last couple of weeks have been extremely busy personally, so couldn’t work on editing.

Before automating, ask: What truly drains your team's energy? Identify those soul-crushing, repetitive tasks that kill creativity. Those are your prime automation candidates. Work smarter, not harder! #AIWorkflow #Automation

Chris here has cracked it. Not only is the bar of entry lowered, allowing more efficient competition - it allows differentiation in the same market. Not only will large companies need a massive overhaul for efficiency, they will also need to have a functionality rethink.

That you can build Twitter (bsky) with 20 people instead of 2000 means bsky can pursue monetization models that Twitter never could. This is a pattern I see across many startups now. Tech has gotten good enough to ship products at 10x-100x less cost compared to 20 years ago. 1/n

Honestly think this is going to be the game changing feature. It's similar to how Facebook decided to give fewer notifications, leading to less engagement over 6 months, but after 6 months growth was much higher than before the feature. Usability is critical.
