I emailed Patrick Healy, assistant managing editor for standards and trust at NYT, to ask why their story about a House report with new details of rape allegations against the President of the United States included neither those details, nor a single use of the word "rape." archive.is/1s9AM

The greatest gift Star Trek gave to humanity is how to navigate all forms of discrimination. Priceless lessons on how to navigate the cosmos while these actors are returned to the source. “The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.” Carl Sagan

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Vivek just released a new ad with Acton’s estranged mother that cut out the part where she claimed Acton lied about living in a tent after proof came out that she did live in a tent, so basically the bitter old hag is now just saying Acton lied at 12 about being sexually abused.

I don’t get it. If the tariffs are great for America and are bringing back manufacturing and are one of Trump’s signature policies, why won’t the Republicans who refused to overturn them even mention them?

“on the outskirts of Richmond, Va., the owners of an industrial warehouse emailed the Trump administration asking for their own waiver. Their wish was granted. Nine months later, the facility accidentally released a large plume of carcinogenic gas into the community.”

To folks who follow me on Bluesky & appreciate the journalism I do. Can you please read the EPA story and post on social media platforms if you are so moved. This kind of work is important. But it only matters if people read it and engage with it. Here's the link. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/24/c...

Pamphlets purporting to come from a transgender rights organization — mailed to families across Texas and igniting criticism from conservatives — came from a company formed last month in Wyoming. The Texas Transgender Student Union listed a Houston-area post office box as the address on the mailers.

While some Republicans have criticized Ramaswamy for siding with the people who allegedly raped Amy Acton *when she was a child* NOT ONE OF THEM has pulled their endorsement of him And of course the sexual abuser in chief and his equally vile VP think Vivek should keep showing the ad 10 days

davidrlurie@davidrlurie.com

The GOP rejection of the Ramaswamy ad - despite Trump and Vance's enthusiastic endorsements - doesn't indicate Republicans have regained moral sensibilities. It does indicate that Trump has lost a huge amount of political power.

"In total, since taking office again, Mr. Trump exempted 202 facilities in 39 states and Puerto Rico from clean-air regulations that were going into effect. Some were among the country’s worst industrial polluters, including chemical manufacturers, copper smelters and coal-burning power plants."

all of this has always been about getting back at the uppity women who wouldn’t fuck them

“Palantir cofounder and CEO Alex Karp states ‘AI will undermine the influence of highly educated, often female voters and give it to working class men. We have feminine energy running our cities and our courts,’ he complained.”
