As someone who has worked in tech for over two decades, and as someone who is an extremely avid maker - this. Tech is not going away - but we have the ability to not let handmade things go away, either.

Currently unable to feel the left side of my body from my waist up. I can type. I can speak, sort of. I don't have aphasia which means probably silent migraine. My brain is insisting my left arm is 20 feet long although the other part of my brain knows that to be untrue. I repeat, bodies are RUDE.

Being a sentient person in 2026 means arguing in public for issues you never thought you would have to articulate out loud: "Read to your children yourself instead of outsourcing it to a robot!" "Don't televise executions!" Things like that.

Why would we let Anthropic decide this for us? If you ascribe to a moral philosophy or religion that disavows being mean to a toaster, that is fine. It is not however fine for a tech company to make, functionally, a moral law for a talking word toaster that is promised to rule us one day.
