i wish it was more feasible to make interesting and transgressive art like Dennis Cooper's "The Sluts" (just finished, great read!) without getting a dozen callout posts about how you and your art is "problematic". the "keep furry weird***" hypocrites love to limit what stories can be told.

it's also especially rich when half the time the people who get on your case for depicting sexually transgressive themes in your art will be people who draw gore and have serial killer OCs. like they broadly ascribe to a "depiction equals endorsement" mindset, but THEIR interest is exempt? bullshit.

but maybe it's on me for even caring. i'm sure Dennis Cooper got all kinds of unpleasant mail and emails about how his book was evil or whatever. it's just that in this day and age it spreads independently of you. people are told to avoid you even though they've never given you a shot. demotivating.

yesterday i played my first little set (music) in front of an audience, sharing my most personal art with people who i admire, idolize, and love, as well as unfamiliar but welcome new faces. very casual, more of a social gathering than a "show", but nonetheless incredibly significant.

still processing the feelings from it, but one thing's for sure, i love performing music for others. i love sharing myself through song, exposing my vulnerabilities through verse, and seeing it resonate with people. i love making noise that compels others to join in, moving them like music moves me.

i have been living totally unsustainably and have been slowly killing myself, so i am starting a new chapter in my life today. i'm a planner critter now. i ain't gonna do shit without checking the schedule first. this will surely fix me (it said, knowing this won't fix it, but hey, it'll help)
