One week into early vote and I am So Stressed by the “I’ll vote on Election Day” people. Why do these people dislike their hyper local political workers so much?! Get off the voter rolls! 😭

I work in politics, used to donate to candidates all the time, and I still don’t get fundraising requests much at all. Some of this doesn’t sound like campaigns, though, it sounds like PACs, who have no incentive to follow texting best practices, including ignoring opt out requests.

NEW: We asked readers if they've been drowning in political texts, calls, mailers and TV ads, and to share pics of what they're getting. Hooo boy, did we get responses! Some fumed its been "harassment." Some won't donate to Dem campaigns ever again. www.huffpost.com/entry/voters...

The Workers' Lit Podcast. Each new episode is our best episode yet, a record we will break next week, and then the next, and so on.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

So far, in SFF novels about elections we have: - Infomocracy and sequels by Malka Older (which I forgot because I was thinking about space) …and that’s it, but surely not, right?!

SFF people: looking for a very specific rec! Sci fi published in the last... let's say 10 yrs... that involves SPACE SALVAGE or SPACE JUNKYARDS I wanna read about space junkyards!

Round table discussion idea: what makes an award have an identity? What sort of things define an award? What movements change the identity of a particular award? Coming soon to a blog/pod near you if I can incept Dan, maybe.

🏆 The Le Guin continues to be the most surprising, innovative, *interesting* award I currently watch. I mean, not just great but - whisper it - definitive (?) 2026 shortlist, and now a real check-*this*-out winner. Kudos, all - I for one am grateful.

I have no clue what's going to win, truly, but Notes from a Regicide and Slow Gods were amazing, and I've heard so many good things about The Works of Vermin and One Message Remains. An absolute banger short list this year.

question for the audience: if you were ultra rich (let’s say $25M), what completely frivolous thing are you buying?

Finally, my moment has arrived as my inability to be a serious writer, allergy to academia, and addiction to parenthetical AuDHD asides finally pays off.

I tripped, ordered a book (it was wild, my card was already out and everything) and now I have my very own copy of Wickhills by Premee Mohamed. It only moves when I'm not in the room. A little annoying but at least it doesn't chew any books other like some naughty kitties I could name.

I said this in a thread last night and in a thousand threads before it, but you really are doing the work of those who would destroy democracy and the rule of law when you are a doomer. You can be aware of — and vigorously oppose — the lawlessness of this administration without insisting on doom.

“Democrats want to lose” okay but how many doors have you knocked this cycle for your non-federal candidates? State reps? County officials? This is why I mute so much political commentary. So many of y’all have never been to a county party meeting and it shows.

“Democrats” as if that’s one thing. It is different everywhere, all politics is local first, and your failure to imagine the party complexly has you repeating right wing talking points! Amazing insights.
