What's happening in Alberta is even more batshit than I ever thought. Danielle Smith is a dangerous psychopath, and the AB separatist movement largely exists because COVID broke far-right brains, and is led by Christo-fascist religious white nationalists, relying on dark money. 2/n

No candidate, regardless of party, will ever get my vote if they call me a "biological man" and advocate for laws targeting my community. Its that simple.

It is wild we went from "distracted driving is bad" to "what if every car's dash was a cell phone" so quickly and no government has said anything about it. If using your phone is bad, using this is bad.

The fight for true egalitarian democracy is *intrinsically* a fight against conservatism. That is the core truth that the entire edifice of both-sides media & political institutions is meant to obscure.

Pierre spent his entire life working to destroy the Laurentian Consensus. And, on the cusp of doing so by beating the nepo baby of the Canadian right's bete noire, they swap Justin out for the physical embodiment of the Consensus, who proceeds to stomp Pierre's ass over and over.

TIL people see bsky, which I view as a news aggregator, as a site to socialize with their friends. This seems astounding to me. There are many better services for private group conversation. How will people even find people to follow now?

The fact that Albertans support the Prime Minister here is totally immaterial to her. She doesn’t even just govern for her party, she only governs for the most extreme half of her party. Hey, fellow Albertans, it’s time to start doing something about this.

This IPO is probably the largest single transfer of wealth from working people to the rich in the history of the world. Most media will report it as a business story and not theft, and thus people will continue to not understand why they are getting poorer.

The fact that naval warfare exists will not diminish my love of the ocean. Nor will the words "space force" diminish my love for the stars. I have fought capitalism here on earth, and I will fight it on the moon if I have to, but by god I will not stop reaching for the stars.

When I was a CPC staffer trying to get them to accept climate change as real, Gladu would often remark that we didn’t need climate action because Canada has trees. Her incuriosity was stunning. This is a real head scratcher.

For basically the entire history of hockey, Canada has had the best goalie in the world. We don't anymore, and that is the difference. What do we need to do to fix this? Massive subsides for goalie equipment for Quebec youth?

My non-baseball fan wife: “So there’s a chance a Canadian team can win baseball? But do do it they have to beat the best player the game has ever seen? Wtf that’s like a movie!” 😂😂

"In an effort to protect their mental health, some people might redefine success away from accumulating wealth and toward purposefulness or happiness," "The scenario could also see trade unions 'grow in power'" This is supposed to be a dystopia? Don't threaten me with a good time.

Legally defining "biological sex" to be just whatever the doctor said when you were born rather than it referring to your actual, material biological sex as it exists today is like legally defining Pi to be 3

Justice for these horrors will only come when trans people shed the bigotry of cis gatekeepers and are truly liberated. No more medical gate keeping, period. People are who they say they are. Trans people are just as biological as anyone else. You can change sex. We now fight on this truth.

The Supreme Court ignored trans voices, harming trans people – and the fairness of its ruling. I’m ashamed of what our law has become, says @jolyonmaugham.bsky.social 💬 goodlaw.social/83qa

The lack of political imagination from our leaders is pathetic. This is a time for bold changes and instead it's, hey here are some tax cuts.

If I knew nothing about Canada except the promises from the three parties, I'd conclude that the federal government must have a large budget surplus and no pressing need to invest in productivity, infrastructure, or defense.

He is going to get more divisive and dangerous as this campaign goes on. Everyone needs to go out to people they know and explain what is happening here so people don't fall for this bigoted bullshit.

Anna Mehler Paperny@mehlerpaperny.bsky.social

In his campaign launch speech Poilievre blames violence and disorder on "open borders." Canada has never had open borders but even if you think it has brought in too many migrants (temporary and permanent) migrants are not linked to violence or crime.

There’s a world where Mark Carney wins and offers Jean Charest and Rachel Notley Senate appointments and Cabinet roles. Go full national unity ticket. Sadly, I doubt we will in that world.

Don’t pull off the gas at all Canada. We can not be held hostage by this manchild. Even if tariffs come off we can never go back to the way it was. Let’s chart a totally new path.

Bloomberg alert: *US PAUSES TARIFFS ON CANADA, MEXICO USMCA TRADE UNTIL APRIL 2

Last year India credibly assassinated a Canadian citizen in Canada. They are higher than the US. Canadians can be a complacent and kind people. We can also hold a grudge and maintain a level of bitterness and anger than pervades deep in society. We feel betrayed and that isn't going away soon.

This is such an old way of doing things that has to change. Release your platform way ahead of the election. Months ahead. Start telling the story earlier.

I love high speed rail and want it everywhere. This plan from the 🇨🇦 govt is not it. Five years to design!? Construction starting by 2030 at earliest!? We are under existential threat and nation building projects must be rapidly accelerated. We cannot rely on stagnant institutions to save us.

This guy set up camp across the street from my house and swore in fake police to implement a white supremacists agenda. He led a group that threatened and harassed me and people I know. But not guilty and no real sentence. Absurd.

If this is close to correct and half the voters of the left-leaning party are willing to vote for Mr. Global Capital, it further proves Canadians are trained strategic voters. Our system has taught Canadians to vote against, over and over. I hope one day we can vote FOR something.
