‘Ouch’ is a one-word sentence which a man may volunteer from time to time by way of laconic comment on the passing show. (he/him)

The admin is ginning up a pogrom against Somali Americans in the state where he is a bishop, and this is his response.

Can someone on here please propose canceling Halloween for safety reasons? I think that would be a really good Bluesky discourse generator.

Katie Mack@astrokatie.com

A reminder, because it is almost that time of year: More children are killed by cars on Halloween than any other day of the year, by far. www.vox.com/future-perfe... If you're a parent, I hope you'll do what you can to keep kids safe. If you're driving on Saturday, PLEASE exercise extra caution.

[non-antisemitically] New Yorkers experience the abundant contributions of our Eastern European neighbors every day, such as when looking in wonder at the paintings of Marc Chagall—who was Jewish, by the way—

the ADL is more mad about Zohran calling a neighborhood Eastern European than Elon giving a Nazi salute Zohran derangement syndrome is real

Obama’s Muslim and he won the Nobel Prize???

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

the year is 2050 "i hate you! i wish you'd never been born!" your mother shouts as she slams the door. of course you're hurt, but you try not to take it personally. she stopped taking her supplements after a deepfaked doctor ruth told her to; it's been nearly 5 weeks since her last bowel movement.

The more time goes on, the more I think the worst thing Trump has done to this country is installed the hermeneutic of conspiracy and suspicion on anything you dislike or don’t understand. I do not really know how you can have a functioning country where this is what people are telling each other.

i don't think it's that crazy it's a lot harder to use public money to build a complicated interconnected grid of rail infrastructure than it is to use private money to build a bunch of big warehouses. like i don't think it's great only one of those is possible but what i do not think it is is crazy

just last week I was struggling with an impossible task: what to eat for lunch. I love cracking a hard problem but this was just overwhelming. So I asked my personal AI assistant. It said "sandwich," which was just perfect. I had it place the order on Uber Eats and 45 minutes later I was eating.

Times have been tough in this Ohio town ever since the woke mob closed the old Cheesecake Factory. So when Vivek Ramaswamy promised to legalize child rape, they finally had something to cheer about again. But then Obama said something elitist.

The Cheesecake Factory is famous for looking how it does. I don’t think people who eat there are really attached to the idea that it’s an extremely beautiful place. It’s like pretending people might be offended by the suggestion that BMW drivers are rude or that Hallmark movies are cheesy.

lastpositivist.bsky.social@lastpositivist.bsky.social

Tbh I don't think anyone on earth is offended by Obama saying that a gold plated cheesecake factory would be tacky. This is not actually something anyone is bothered by.

That classic Onion headline about the DNC reconnecting with voters through a Lena Dunham Hamilton web series is funny. But I think people need to remember that Hamilton was a megahit. I guarantee your average Cheesecake Factory goer likes Hamilton.

That said, it's an interesting fact that you can often extract significant concessions from a certain kinda leftist by activating their insecurity that the True Volk are exurban petit bourgeois reactionaries, and you are intrinsically inauthentic if you're not in this group.

I see the AI lunatic fringe has finally developed first and second Thessalonians in their continued project of inventing the worst imaginable version of Christianity.

Bluesky is a project created by noted Republican Jack Dorsey to discredit left-wing politics by elevating the absolute dumbest, most bottom of the barrel slop “left-wing” political opinions imaginable.

In the replies they’re defending this by saying it’s people “defending pointing guns at kids,” which is essentially the e-anarchist version of when Republicans describe Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes as “having friends”

The “parent estrangement” panic should be understood as part of the same complex as anger at social media “censorship,” and demands for affirmative action for conservatives in academia. Conservatives simply think you should be forced to listen to their dogshit ideas, no matter how cruel.

I don’t think these things are really “blowing up.” The current GOP doom loop is caused by two things: 1. Trump was elected by an electorate angry about inflation and has made it much, much worse. 2. Trump is insisting on making the midterms about himself.

Kevin M. Kruse@kevinmkruse.bsky.social

The attack ad against Acton is another in a long list of right-wing gotchas that have blown up in their face -- Eric Schmitt's attack on Jack Smith, the conspiracy that Talarico was in rehab, Tommy's heckling of El-Sayed, etc etc. Their echo chambers keep convincing them to do incredibly dumb shit

Trump going to Mississippi should tell us they’re seeing the same thing Schumer is, and there’s internal polling showing Colom with a chance. It ain’t the Wedgewood poll.

Every AI company’s financial report is like “We paid all of our suppliers in stock and now we’re so valuable that it turns out we were massively overpaying them,” but because this is reported in a dollar value, everyone reacts as if they’re just flushing money down the toilet. It’s incredible.

You have $100 of gizmos. You agree to pay someone for $10 worth of services by giving them $10 of gizmos. You use the services to make the gizmos more valuable. Now your gizmos are worth $1K. Did you “lose $100”?

Yeah I don’t see how this isn’t a crisis at this point? You cannot have a private citizen running a full private foreign policy which runs against that of the United States like this

Obviously this is goofy but I’m also loving the implicit horror that Somali-Americans might be—god forbid—completely normal upper middle class/upper class people. Truly a first rate example of telling on yourself.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Stephen Miller claims Somali-Americans in Minnesota are "buying Mercedes, buying BMWs, they buy a nice house, all their kids fly first class all over the world" (This is a lie!)

Somali-Americans are having 2.5 kids and spending every dollar they can on tutors to get them into the Ivy League. They’re buying a vacation home in Florida and moving there to retire and die. Somali-Americans are shopping at Whole Foods and buying life insurance policies.

The single biggest problem I have with this argument is that it’s a cultural solution to a material problem. I actually agree with the fundamental point that using a decentralized system instead of a centralized one is the best solution, but actually making this happen would itself require laws.
