Marathon, really do be at the lowest point I've seen. Less people on steam are playing it than a nsfw game about washing dragons. I'm surprised bungie went with this or even greenlit a reimaging of a game from 30 years ago in an oversaturated market as opposed to just more destiny.

I can't say I'm not a little surprised that marathon's numbers are actually that low in players. it makes me sad because marathon was pitched years ago, at any point someone could have stopped it or repurposed it, There's no hook or anything new to the extraction genre with it.

Trying to salvage it with a PvE mode is wishful thinking, to salvage it would have to pull off some miracle like fortnite when it originally launched. I just can't wrap my head around why an extraction shooter using an IP that hasn't been touched in 30 years was expected to do well.

I love destiny and I want bungie to make a game they actually want to make, Marathon still to me feels like one of the most out of touch games pitched out of nowhere. I've played it a bit and it was ok. Not great, not doing anything new in the extraction genre, just ok.

Even if it came out a couple years ago I don't think it would succeed in the extraction space, it's not groundbreaking; it doesn't add anything besides looking pretty and aesthetics. I still play destiny, I don't play marathon anymore. It has a dwindling player count and no hook to get players in.

With one of the biggest leaks I've ever seen come out I recommend muting any games you are really excited for coming up on pc. Anyway leaks suck, and people ruin everyone's fun and whimsy with them. Devs spend hundreds of hours working on these products and you disrespect their work by doing it.

Maybe I get a shark form regardless sometime, devouring a beach or being super ripped with a gut. I do have some designs for it in mind especially with gills and fins :3
