By the way, every little silly thing I'm doing with #WCMCR right now is pretty much "Nobody told me to not do it".

Right, we've put a post out on the most asked question about #WCMCR. I'm going to The Grand Central. It has "The Neon Handshake" by Hell is for Heroes on the jukebox. Going there and having a few pints* *May not actually do that.

DLC Free WordCamp Manchester (To answer the most asked question: there is no after party, but at least one of the organisers is going to be around for a bit after) manchester.wordcamp.org/2026/dlc-fre...

Okay that's annoying Camptix doesn't include images in their emails, so it doesn't read right :-/

Honestly, the large part of why the web is creaking right now is how exhausting it is when everybody has access to Claude and folks don't know how to use it.

Forgive me for being flippant, but if the workflow requires an individual to convert a file into Excel 97, I don't exactly consider it to be "Regular workflow".

The quality of professional wrestling matches. Granted it is a different style and characters may be different. But athletically it is so much more impressive now. Compare Ospreay vs Omega at Wembley to Hart Vs Bulldog from 35 years prior. Different world (and Hart/Bulldog is seen as amazing!)

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

I feel like I say this every year but these feel like the worst group of Faithfuls I have ever seen #thetraitors #celebritytraitors

Like I am as Welsh as Owain Glyndwr and would have followed him into battle but in the last 48 hours my most spoken words have been "Oh for fuck's sake Michael" #celebritytraitors #thetraitors

And Breathe :) What a year the last 3 days have been. Here's a bit of an overview of what happened and things I've done (and what I could potentially do better). And also, what you can do...

It says a lot that the Pico8 community put a ban on everything AI. It is one of the most fun, joyful communities right now, and I love making games in it.

Every single hobby I love has has been infected by slopped up and unserious software. It's exhausting. aftermath.site/ai-slop-hobbie...

Ondřej Surý fixed PHP. Open source is completely wild.

70 percent of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday Ondřej Surý saved the internet. So I called him up www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...

I didn't know about this guy until about 36 hours ago. Fund maintainers. Thank maintainers.

And here's me sending the @dwinrhys.com draft blog post about this to a security researcher I know in exchange for beers, to make sure I don't saying anything incorrect.

Maybe the BBC should get someone who actually knows what he is talking about then.

Also I don't think I have heard the word "Cyber" used since Yahoo's chat rooms in 2003. A/S/Get the fuck off my big telly

The chances of me singing this drunkenly in a Karaoke on Canal Street post #wcmcr has risen significantly because of this PHP vulnerability.

There is a bit in the new Street Fighter film Ken gets battered and is waking up the next morning singing "What's Up?" by 4 Non Blondes. I felt like that this morning.

I'm not certain enough to put money in it, but I'm fairly sure there'll be at least one person who posted "LOL WORDPRESS IS INSECURE" on Linkedin, without realising it's a PHP vulnerability and their vibe coded app is hosted on a server that has PHP enabled.

A storm hitting Cornwall on Thursday....

Storm Austen has been named by the Met Office bringing disruptive wind and rain from late Thursday and into Friday. Read our full news release here➡️ www.metoffice.gov.uk/about-us/new...

So I went to the Pencil Museum today in Keswick. Nice place, very friendly staff. You get a quiz to do as you go around learning about pencils. And if you do it, you get a free pencil. Anyway shout out to the couple who were speaking to ChatGPT to get answers.

Street Fighter thoughts. Dumb, felt a bit rushed as they squeezed two story arcs into one and fritted between fights. Lots of fan service. Loved Blanka, Guile and Dan. Bison gave me the ick. No idea how you could follow it if you don't have knowledge of the games. But the ending was touching/fun.

Look, you can't call your film "Street Fighter" and have all the crazy characters from Street Fighter II onwards. It should be restricted to the ones from the first game like that ridiculously tall English punk, have him banging his head on door frames and not being able to find trousers that fit.

I am sure someone is counting "new AI feature usage" from the click metrics where the stuff I didn't want for just takes the most prominent UI position from something actually useful. 99.9% of the time in Google Slides, I want to upload an image. Not generate one. Accidentally click all the time.

It's galling reading an AI generated email with the line "🌲 Please consider the environment, and ask yourself whether you need to print out this email 🌲" in the signature.

Absolutely majestic football game, this.

"Your order will be delivered by Relay!" Oh God. This is what happened the last time Relay delivered a parcel....

I didn't know Nick well, but he often popped into our Zoom "pub" during lockdown, and he was a smart chap and giving with his time too. Barry's words - especially the last sentence - ring true. RIP Nick ❤️

Haigh Woodland #Parkrun Today. Wet. Muddy. Hilly. 46 down. 4 to go. Indoctrinated my partner's brother in law to Parkrun too.

Good thing that Steam didn't send this email else it'd chew up the bandwidth of the internet.

Hey fun fact I've learned in the last 30 minutes:- Slovakian in Slovakian is "Slovenčina" Slovenian in Slovenian is "Slovenščina"

This fact was not brought to you by wondering why a Slovakian translation wasn't working on a website, oh no.
