this feed is the best thing i've ever seen, i love it. high-quality social media content is back!

now i see the issue. actually wait. the issue is the opposite. now i understand the full picture! actually… let me reconsider. here’s the actual problem: there is no problem.

running your agents both in tmux and inside a container makes it super convenient to clean up all the orphaned processes they tend to leave around. maybe someday they'll clean up after themselves.

i used windows powertools to map all my mac hotkeys to the windows key. e.g. window + a = ctrl + a window + c = ctrl + c window + v = ctrl + v window + q = alt f4 etc. i should have done this a long time ago.

I am confused by claims that the agentic era is going to mean the end of UIs. Chat really sucks for a lot of use cases! UI is often really great!

I've automated the way I do work with a more structured and formalized ralph loop. now I've written about it for those who are interested in doing something similar, as well as released the code if you want to try it for yourself: www.richsnapp.com/article/2026...

richsnapp.comAutomating agents with the next iteration of Ralph - RichSnapp.comIf you've been paying attention to the agentic coding space lately, you've probably come across the concept of a "ralph loop." The idea, popularized by Matt Pocock and others, is straightforward: put ...

i have an alias i created: clauded='claude --dangerously-skip-permissions' i'll switch to it when i get sick of accepting permissions. it's also a nice verb so when my computer gets fubared people can be like "damn, you got clauded"

claude should track how long its tool commands take to run. maybe then it wouldn't decide to run the same 10 minute test suite 5 times over just to slightly tweak the output format each time.

Agentic engineering is driving the cost of code to zero but the cost of good taste and product sense is going to go sky-high.

i try really hard not to make spelling errors when talking to AI so that it only gives me answers from the "smart people" training set

so i'm going through the react docs for the latest react 19 features... it's awful. (not the docs, the docs are good) basically a laundry list of caveats, pitfalls, and IOUs. i honestly don't know how anyone could read these and think "i should be using this"

types still exist even if you write javascript instead of typescript, they're just in your head (hopefully) instead of on disk. this is more relevant now than ever because types are some of the most important context you can give AI when writing code.

please do not use llms to actually write your blogs. we can absolutely tell. and it means: 1. I don't trust what you're saying (or at least I don't trust any purported 'insight') 2. I don't feel like I'm listening to you (normally I _like_ listening to nuance) 👉 shorter, imperfect yet real👌

i've always been a fan of and pushed for keyboard accessibility. but for the first time i have just downloaded autohotkey and started making some scripts... i am once again asking everyone to prioritize keyboard accessibility.

there needs to be some way to use bsky with discover feed and not be bombarded by impersonal uspol. absolutely don't mind people i follow posting about it but just random posts from popular characters here despite many "show less" are annoying and i don't think annoying me alone

i setup a private minecraft server so i could teach my 5 year old daughter to play... looking through the logs: [rich1g: Gave 1 [Bow] to ClairseyBear] [rich1g: Gave 64 [Arrow] to ClairseyBear] rich1g was shot by ClairseyBear ClairseyBear has made the advancement [Take Aim]

If you understand what software engineering as a career actually entails (lots of people and organizational problems, understanding legacy code and tradeoffs) you are at a career advantage over those who understand the job as just producing code. Those jobs could be replaced. But that ain’t the job

great article. many years ago i invited two women coworkers to a frontend conference since they had never been. i attended with them until we sat for lunch. unbeknownst to us the room was for a women-in-tech event and i was forcefully asked to leave while my coworkers were told to stay...

I have been back and forth over the span of 5 years about whether to publish this article. All opinions and experiences in this post are my own, or from people I personally know, backed up with recent reports and statistics.

the organizers intentions were probably good, but it was awkward for everyone and i think probably soured their first impression of these conferences. i welcomed them to come to the event as peers in the technology field and then they were told they should stick around because they were women.

watched howl‘s moving castle with the fam last night, i had never seen it. i liked the themes around her trying to improve the situation around herself even with a global backdrop of chaos. also seeing the good in everyone, even those who caused her harm. and of course, improving one’s own mindset.

TIL doing too many state updates in React without yielding for React to flush pending updates will crash with `Uncaught RangeError: Invalid array length`

unpopular opinion: interviews are not meant to be a place where you demonstrate that you know everything. they're to demonstrate that you can go into situations not knowing everything but still achieve successful outcomes through applying yourself.

protip for all those people who like to rerun ci/cd with temp commits: the commit message is part of the hash so just `git commit --amend` and change the message. no more 11ty temp commits in a row.
