Riley Rose

Sara's piece absolutely rips. She posted The Thesis Of It ages ago and I said oh my god Sara can you please go on Genius Night and do a whole bit on this, I have to see it. Well I saw it and I was so right to have asked this. Skip to 59:02 (or watch the whole thing)!

In Let's Kill Hitler, River Song-as-Mels says "I don't do weddings", explaining away the fact that Mels wasn't at the wedding in The Big Bang while also bookending the entire half-season with The Wedding of River Song. Even when he's flailing a bit in the plot, Moffat dialogue good.

Thrillseeker Gregory Egory (Pierre Finnimore) stops by to share daring exploits from his youth, and Riley gets embroiled in family drama in the name of journalism. Plus, Tom owes someone twenty quid. Listen now at radiogo.show!

I just discovered that nobody on the crew of A New Hope were #StarWars fans. I don’t know how they thought they were qualified to serve Luke’s story.

holy smokes, conan strikes up a chat with a random lady on the subway and she immediately starts riffing on his level, no problem.

I love Josh's writing

This week’s newsletter contains an extremely aggressive and borderline belligerent defense of They Might Be Giants!

It's @themountaingoats.bsky.social tonight in Glasgow!!

Recorded a bunch of fun stuff yesterday. The sound quality wasn't the best so we'll see how much sees the light of day, but I think we might have the basis for an Edinburgh show...

#SNLUK nothing setting me alight tonight. JAJ was nice enough, and I enjoyed the weird Update pretape, but too many sketches were just mashing up incongruous bits of culture (Berlin, Pugs, Michael Jackson)

It's pub day for Serling: A Journey Into The Twilight With with TV's First Visionary! If you're still on the fence, I've got an entire chapter — about Rod's service in World War II — available as a free sample:

Today I'm thinking about how good RJ Mitte is in the fight scene in Ozymandias. He glues the whole thing together and makes the consequences of the entire series hit home with a look. What a talent.

Wysocki, funny funny man

Riley welcomes Carmen Cole-Ekted (Stevie Yardy), a voiceover artist hiding a terrible secret. Then, Grant Bonson (Joe Gascoyne-Thompson) stops by to read from his latest novel. Plus, Tom takes a nap. Listen now at radiogo.show!

We'll be playing ALPHA in its entirety on Saturday via the fan Discord! discord.gg/xCd7rZ2Mn?ev...

What a total joy to experience the Jet Lag finale in a room with a couple hundred other nerds, mostly watching very respectfully but with great laughs and cheers at the end. More niche shit in cinemas!

Come watch jokes with me!

I cannot

The modern research ecosystem of online tools and communities is controlled by for-profit companies. But we think that researchers should be the priority - not the product. So, we're announcing Aster ID: not-for-profit Atmosphere account hosting for researchers.

I had a tremendous time pitching fake adverts on the @lifesapitchpodcast.bsky.social this week - we laughed, we cried, we made James Nesbitt take cocaine. Check it out!

The good people (person) at @flebpuzzles.bsky.social made a delight that took me less than an hour to complete and gave me a couple of delighted laughs along the way. Plus, it's free! Check out "20 More, Somehow Even Smaller Mazes"!

What the fuck

Larry Dean is a terrific standup. Really enjoying his post- #SNLK set!
