Hey I made a new thing - it's called Gradientspace Graph, and it's a C#-based NodeGraph Programming system that also supports inline C# and Python "Code Nodes". The NodeGraph Engine is MIT Open-Source and the Editor is Free. More details here: www.gradientspace.com/tutorials/20...

man claude can really go down some rabbit-holes trying to "verify" weird UE C++ idioms that would have been trivial for me to just test (in this case templated Cast<> functions where the types are all predecl'd and finding the actual headers/etc is quite hard). goodbye ~10% of session tokens...

A programming lesson that's been hammered into my skull is to not try to create a general system until you've implemented AT LEAST a handful of one-offs the system is supposed to support. Otherwise you waste endless time fighting with and refactoring your "general" system.

Wouldn’t be surprised if every GenAI video service is hemorrhaging money (and Gen3D too). Despite all the noise, the market is just inherently small, and the content is not good enough.

Fascinating development. Sora was the fasting growing app for a while and Disney was planning to invest in OpenAI and license IP for inclusion in Sora www.wsj.com/tech/ai/open...

the scale in the javascript ecosystem is mind-boggling... @zeux.io 's meshoptimizer.js npm package has 3 million weekly downloads. **weekly** (for comparison my C# geo library - which is relatively widely used, for a geo library - has total 1m nuget downloads over the past ~10 years...)

assuming this applies to AI-generated code (no obvious reason it shouldn't), you can't even put an MIT license on it.

Supreme Court refuses to hear case about copyright of an AI-generated artwork. The lower court decision disallowing copyright of this piece stands. The case in question is for artwork that is claimed to be 100% autonomously generated www.engadget.com/ai/the-supre... 1/2

the robots ported my ModelGrid C++ library to Typescript today, and made a basic little in-browser editor. Thought this tech was going to be dead (it's trapped in an Unreal plugin) but now maybe not... (clearly some face-normal issues, though...)

hearing AI company CEOs excitedly telling you how "we can now all finally become managers" without blinking makes me want to pack my bags and move to the moon

so wild to be able to do this in a few hours. Yesterday it was for images and videos and now today it's become kind of a tabbed Desktop... (still some jank around scrolling and focus but it will probably be fixed tomorrow...)

Hey All, I made a header only C++ library (MIT) where line of code inits, then you can start writing to pixels on the screen. I call it thirteen.h, inspired by the simplicity of the 13h days. Examples include a mandelbrot viewer and a playable mine sweeper game. github.com/Atrix256/Thi...

You get this attitude a lot from UX/Product people and it's always mystified me. The premise is that all Engineers are lazy? They don't care about the product? Their job is to just shut up and do what they are told? But now we have robot coding... (1/3)

Robin-Yann Storm@rystorm.com

Whenever an engineer says "It's not possible" always remember that what they actually mean is "I don't know how to build that" which sounds different, but means the same thing.

So in theory Engineers are no longer needed. Except the job of Engineering is not just to code, it's also to understand/manage the scope & impact of changes, now and in the future. Whereas Robot Coders will happily do whatever you ask - regardless of the disasters they are creating. (2/3)

I think it's going to be super interesting to see how this plays out. I have gone very far w/ a claude-coded app without writing any code. But I'm still doing Engineer-work constantly - it's a terrible sw architect and constantly makes choices that we pay for later, until I tell it how to unwind

a significant challenge in claude-coding is just figuring out good ways to describe things in words. Abstract high-level concepts, very precisely identifying (eg) UI elements, explaining observed behaviors, giving things good unique names, etc. Perhaps time to bring back Technical Writing classes

Claude Code and I have built a client/server webapp. I ask it, could this be run locally and feel like it's a desktop app? Yes, it says it can launch Chrome in "App Mode" and run the servers in some hidden-but-attached console thing (??). Works. Now, can it be "installed" in ProgramFiles/etc? ...

Apparently, yes. It makes a .bat installer you can run right from the github repo! The icon is a default icon though - I say, can you use the webpage favicon? It says "no, it's an svg and needs to be an .ico"...then it says "wait I see you have this image library in your node.js dependencies..."

"...I can just whip up a script to convert .svg to .ico...ok done now I'll just bleep blorp boop". And now I have this. seriously, wtf. this took like 15 minutes to sort out. (also it generated the icon svg, not amazing but I don't have any better ideas...)

soooo what’s the next IRC-in-browser we can all switch over to?

Every time I install Unreal on a new machine I always make to change Editor Settings > Asset Editor Open Location to "Main Window" It stops new windows being opened up as separate tabs, always keeps them docked. #UnrealEngine

in-browser nondestructive video editing and video/gif conversion. Part of a freeform image & video editing webapp that claude code is implementing for me. Can store files locally or hooked up to S3. ~3 weeks of occasional prompting, ~300 commits...browser-only demo at gsworkspace.com/demo/

I've not touched the code, or even really looked at it. I've never built a webapp like this, no idea if it's doing a good job. I've had to help it *a lot* with architecture redesigns and debugging. We've done several rounds of security audits. The app works great though.

I can’t believe Apple ships this, it looks like placeholder UI. This is what you have to click through to save a cropped screenshot on iOS. If you don’t do this, it silently discards the image!!

ouch. I remember when Autodesk killed off ArtCAM, a 2.5D design tool that was used by Mints around the world to design coins (among many other things). The suggestion to abandoned users was “try MudBox (?)”
