My bike is neon yellow. My cycling clothes are neon yellow. I’m 187 cm tall. My bike *and* my helmet have bright-ass lights facing front, back, and the sides (there are side lights in both the front and the rear). I’m ludicrously visible. I’ve been sideswiped several times by cars in broad daylight
On roads, drivers have very clear lines of sight. If they haven't seen a child, the visibility of their costume is unlikely to be the deciding factor Take this from a 194cm tall man with a bright yellow cycling jacket. The problem is drivers not looking, not the colour of what they are looking at

My sister pet sat for us when my wife and I were in the hospital for the birth of our daughter. This is our conversation on the morning we brought her home
i once had the good fortune to pass through an area where a skunk had sprayed maybe five minutes before. so i could experience the smell without having to bathe a dog about it. horrid stuff

My particle physics textbook had a fun blurb at the beginning: “a neutrino of moderate energy could easily penetrate a thousand light-years(!) of lead”
It’s especially good today because neutrinos are just so much fun to talk about. They’re little! They’re weird! They sneakily transform themselves to other flavors when no one is looking!
This game is good. I think I was like five patties and an ungodly amount of lettuce deep before I realized there was a button I could press to switch to a top bun and close the monstrosity of a burger I was bringing into the world
hey um so the steam page for YOU SHOULD CONSIDER MAKING A BURGER EX is now live and i would SUPER appreciate your wishlists and whatnot. it’s a cheap goofy time waster for you and a foray into gamedev for me. thanks in advance ❤️🍔 store.steampowered.com/app/5140030/...
There’s something wrong with her agility. I’ve never met a cat who so frequently falls doing completely mundane things. I’ve seen her fall off tables while walking along the edge multiple times. Yesterday she failed to clear the two foot gap between the coffee table and the couch
This cat is only getting more mischievous as she gets older and I fear for her safety. Keeping an eye on her takes almost as much attention as our actual human toddler

Happy Father's Day. Here's an excerpt from a 2002 essay by my dad, Vincent Mosco, who passed away two years ago. It's about how tech bros ignore history and repeat it again and again. carleton.ca/ces/wp-conte...

The weirdest spam I’ve gotten lately is a TikTok account impersonating @molly.wiki messaging me
Similarly, our school district in the *Boston suburbs* will close for just two inches of snow. This is a huge change from 30 years ago. I kinda wonder if part of the reason is due to school bus ridership decreasing so much during that time and most parents choosing to drive their kids instead
This drives me, the parent of public school kids, absolutely bonkers
