I suspect a kid put it there as a prank (next to the Smurfs), but it had a price, so it was available somewhere. Did I mention it was held in a nice catholic church too

No, no, not the Roberto Bolano 2666 black hole. I escaped you! I'm happy now. OK, just one read of an article and a tiny bit of numerology, just for old times sake.

Harry Kane winning the Ballon D'or is the icing on the cake. I love music, I love art, I love literature, but more than anything I love football. And the idea that a kid like me from the same area would go on to define what English football is to a world stage makes him my hero. A gentleman too.

Spurs won, Chelsea lose, united lose and to top it all off, KAA Gent thrash Anderlecht. Great weekend of football

I got to see him play quite a few times and throughout his Tottenham career, his situational awareness was visible from great distances. I loved watching Bale for excitement and sheer talent, but I loved watching Kane for everything else.

My occasionally left-field choice for favourite Godspeed album. I reviewed it 5 years ago and stand by what I now refer to as the Godspeed Key Performance Indicator. GK!PI, for short.

For whatever reason this was priced down to €16 on a popular online retailer here (new), so snapped it up. One of my absolute faves this year. Reminds me of the sultry nights spent living in a council estate in Wood Green, with the window open, hearing the world at large outside. British dreaming

I'm not saying William Burroughs should be a role model for anyone - but I am saying why don't we see more author's headshots like this anymore.

I finally read this today. This is a eulogy read out through bibliography. A really precise and strange reckoning with the life of the poet after his death. Something almost religious to the collection of relics. Something capitalistic over the sale of them. Beautiful piece.

‘J.H. Prynne’s first book was put out by stolid publishers, Routledge and Kegan Paul, in 1962. An uneasy beginning, as he glossed in a letter to Charles Olson: the book was, he said, “96 per cent of no interest to me”.’ Iain Sinclair remembers the poet. www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...

I bought this like a year ago, but happy to wait. Had a few records in last few years that have opened portals for me. This is one of them.

From what I've gathered in my brief foray into Instagram it is 40% apology statements (black background, white text, calibri text etc.) to extraordinaryily obscure events in the middle of nowhere that are liked by about 7.5 million people every time.

"We are sorry that Golddigger by Kanye West was accidentally played during our Tuesday student Club night at The Exit in Wolverhampton yesterday. This is unacceptable and we will be putting the work in to do better from now on" 7.4 million likes

For some reason unknown to anyone, Editors are just phenomenally massive in Belgium. They're doing 2 performances in Ghent in an incredibly small bar (max 150 people) next week for the launch of their new album. Utterly bizarre

"They can start cutting people's faces up. They can stab someone. They can shoot someone." EXCLUSIVE: Our hidden cameras capture the leader of Turning Point UK organising a fake rally for a foreign government and helping arrange a murder-for-hire with loyalist paramilitaries.

The ever-present question of Will Self - will this actually be good? Had no idea about the cancer battle though, that's rough.

He wrote the foreword to that big compendium coffetable book on Death that was in every independent bookshops window in 2016. I remember he wrote about his mother's death that it made him realise that death was bigger than life. And that stuck with me.

"After John Cage has done four and a half minutes of silence, the task of the avant-garde is not to then do five minutes of silence. That’s kitsch." Going to be thinking about @return2sanders.bsky.social's interview with Tom McCarthy whenever anyone talks about experimental literature:

theauflauf.comTom McCarthy: ‘The real’s not there yet. It has to be invented.’The London-raised author on his new novel, guilt as phenomenology, and why literature has nothing to do with storytelling.

I don’t know if Elon Musk will respond on this platform. But regarding this whole "flying car" business—what are the people who currently get out of their cars to start a fight in traffic going to do now? Explain this, man! Please RT.

This three song run in the new HMLTD record is one of my favourite things in months. I think it's gonna turn on a lot of younger listeners to a lot of different ideas about what can go into a song when it's out

Descent continues. What a weirdly rich corner of the written word

I'm reading my battered copy of Ccru's writings again for something. I, as a rule, detest most of what Ccru became after Sadie Plants exit (Ones & Zeroes was the high-point of this particular type of written investigation), but man some of it is eerie in its accuracy. You can't dismiss that.

I saw the Belgian equivalent of this sign today (Japelanse duizendknoop) today and googling it sent me down a path of existence I didn't know existed. Terrifying
