One opinion I've come away with after editing with vegas pro these last few months is that it's a completely unprofessional and unserious software made by vibecoding morons and I legit wasted my money on it. I should've been learning davinci resolve all this time.

Since the trailers have shown Galadriel being plagued with nightmare visions, and have shown her fighting (and getting injured by?) a Nazgul--and also we've seen Gandalf fight Nazgul as well, I wish to call your attention to the one piece of text that inspired Gandalf's appearance in this show:

I think we may see the first meeting of Galadriel and Gandalf, we may hear the name Mithrandir, and, if they have the rights to it, Olorin. With Gandalf perhaps helping clear her mind of Sauron, and Galadriel in turn helping him to remember who he is.

Lying in bed by your side and stroking your cheek (platonically), touching your chin and turning your head so you can gaze deep into my eyes (as a friend), whispering sweet nothings into your ears (coworker memes)

I remember when Rings of Power season one would gave these slightly awkward, vague-about-scale shots where Bronwyn would be addressing what was supposed to be the population of several villages worth... and it's like, 30 people. We've come a long way since then.

it cannot actually be ignored or danced around that the closure of BioWare came so soon after the Saudi and Jared Kushner acquisition of EA. they absolutely did take the studio making EA’s broadly queerest games out back and shoot it old yeller style. do not let yourself or colleagues ignore that

For example:"no one knows your heart like a sister" had people saying "but the whole POINT of the book is that the two sisters don't understand each other" and all I have to say is... OKAY?? It's a fucking tag line??? Maybe the point is the movie is meant to challenge it????

I don't understand why this of all films has been such a victim of "person complains about dumb tagline on poster, gets 10,000 likes" but alas, people will characterise every adaptation as the worst ever, no matter what. Yes, all the taglines have been dumb. Ignore them. They're not in the movie.

Some of these taglines ARE dumb but I think it's so funny how often people will hop on the hate bandwagon for a movie over like nothing. A movie tagline is supposed to provoke a theme or idea. A movie tagline isn't your opportunity to UM ACKTUALLY the film. Nobody cares that you read the book.

It reminds me of this fake ass "defy the gods" controversy where suddenly every account on twitter was an expert on The Odyssey, and then they all proceeded to not understand the main conflict of The Odyssey. Larpers

This one too: "being agreeable never did a woman any good" "But Elinor IS agreeable!" OKAY????? And what good does that do her??? Like we really are in a literacy crisis when we have people beefing with movie taglines like they're supposed to be the "moral" or "final message" of the movie

Just came out of the new Sense & Sensibility directed by Georgia Oakley. I have so many good things to say. Firstly, wow, refreshingly slow pacing. In a good way. Like... long, lingering shots of people chilling out, or yearning. Many, many gorgeous shots exploring the east English countryside.

The soundtrack by Roger Goula is maybe one of the best period film scores I've ever heard, up there with Pride & Prejudice (2005). The entire movie builds up to the old (but good) cliche of "girl runs after boy to confess her feelings" and it is scored so soaringly, so earnestly. LOVED it.

The main cast is very charismatic and their chemistry is strong. Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esme Creed-Miles were the obvious standouts but George Mackay deserves some regard for being so likeable despite missing for huge, huge parts of the film (as per the book's plot) and having such a difficult part.

There's one actor who is miscast and their atonal presence took me out of the movie. What's worse is that character is barely in the film so you never really get a read on him, and there are a few flanderizations in the movie like it too, though some I enjoyed, even if I accept them begrudgingly.

Cramped shots with many subjects in the foreground and background. Candlelit scenes and low light scenes were perfect. This is a FILM film. Oakley has an advanced eye, I'm glad I saw this on the big screen. On a technical level is is one of the greatest period dramas ever shot.

You could tell it was shot entirely on film. It is especially hard to get low light, and candlelight, right on film, but she didn't compromise for it. She nailed it, it is absolutely masterful and a treat to the eyes. They do NOT make enough films that look like this.

I wanna click next race... but my thumbs... ohhhhh.... my thumbs

Played some Mario Kart on DS for a few hours today. I feel Mario Kart DS was actually... awful? The CPU is way too slingshot and unfair and what even *is* the drifting in that game? Meanwhile, Mario Kart 7 is surprisingly perfect, it holds up as well as 8. I have carpal tunnel. Thank you for reading

Sauron fell to his knees when he saw Celebrimbor, as the rush of dopamine signaling his impending earth-shattering orgasm started making him moan loud enough to deafen everyone in the immediate vicinity. What followed was a torrential downpour of every single sperm cell he ever has or ever will

Clocked his tea

The Doctor and Davros have a conversation that echoes across millenia. Chapter 8 of my unofficial novelisation is out now! "I've never killed Hitler. And you wouldn't expect me to kill Hitler..." Doctor Who: The Magician's Apprentice - Chapter 8: Conversation I archiveofourown.org/works/797244...

Btw I'm not COMPLETELY against this. I don't make it my mission to be a hater, especially about Lord of the Rings. I recognise that a massive film with thousands of artists involved is far more than the sum of one ignorant comment made by one man. But I can't help but feel the thing is tainted.

Yall see the new set photos for Hunt for Gollum? Looks allwhite.

I always hated how every aspect of modern life, work, the phones, daily distractions, is barking at you that reading is a waste of time, and that's why most people feel they're only allowed to read late at night, when their eyes are heavy and there's "nothing else to do."

I refuse to feel guilt for sitting down in the middle of my day and cracking open a good tome like an old wizard. Sure there's lots of things I could be doing. You could probably be scrolling less. You'll have to pry these ancient texts out of my cold, wisened hands. Fuck you

Skydance now owns Nick, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Comedy Central, and MTV, effectively ending US TV animation as we know it. Countless jobs will be lost, and fewer new shows will be created. An apocalyptic scenario for cartoons, yet it's maybe the 5th-worst thing about the Paramount-WB merger!
