I'm not sure you're gonna get Valve to stop hating the developers using Steam anytime soon. Not like this is a new trend. They've been unwilling to do anything about bad behavior by developers or users on the communication side of the platform for over a decade, why start caring now.
Devs shouldn't have to be protecting their games, Valve should be protecting its shopfront: aftermath.site/steam-indie-ga...

This is one of the most unhinged things I've ever read from anyone in the games industry. At the start of the week I'd have described Tim Sweeney as embarrassing. This is sociopathic. He can't even find it in himself to muster up an ounce of empathy. Even Boddy Kotick could put on an act. Wild shit.

Gotta stop doing the inflation point like wages have risen anywhere close to in line with it.
people have paid that much (or more) for consoles in the past, adjusted for inflation. but you lose the “every middle-class kid has one” market in the process—and like the ps5/unlike the series x, the “adult enthusiast” market will have to believe it’s worth the money

Last week, after two years of bargaining attempts, members of Activision Quality Assurance United voted to authorize a potential strike. If you want to support these workers in their standoff which stands to establish precedent and set baselines for the entire industry, now's your chance:
Truly never seen anyone project an ideological bubble with this level of force though. They left themselves exposed enough that they definitely know everyone hates this shit, and they're just plowing through it like anyone wants this stupid bot that's almost certain hemorrhaging money to make a gif.
The key here is the reason none of the massive copyright holders are doing anything even though you think they'd glass the earth Sam Altman stands on in an instant is that they all see creatives as an unfortunate reality, and not a people. They're all desperate to remove creators from the equation.
Still trying to understand how Napster got shut down, but Anthropic is going public and still hasn’t paid us authors yet after stealing our work.

Me every time someone mentions Obsidian and I'm honor bound to insist Alpha Protocol is the most pure example of how far being sincerely committed to an idea can get you in spite of anything else.

There is simply no reason to trust Epic. I know a lot of people get along with their tools, but they're so much more destructive than a company like Microsoft and they've been transparently like this since well before AI was even spitting out garbled nonsense.
NEW: Epic Games has delayed its upcoming (not yet announced) Star Wars + Marvel shooter as it pivots to complete AI game development. "No more hand-written code," a director told staff. All art "generated with full AI workflows." Full scoop: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
