Cranky Notes this morning: I block authors who use AI to make book marketing videos. I block creeps who hijack the morning walk feed. Balanced by this Happy Note: the new iPad app for Bluesky is very nice. Thank you.

Dear @heinrich.senate.gov @whitehouse.senate.gov You two are on the wrong side of this bill. Please join your colleagues who have more common sense, greater ability to read the room, and are true defenders of our public lands and environmental laws. What will it take? It’s OK to change your mind.

Thank god for @wyden.senate.gov @duckworth.senate.gov @edmarkey.bsky.social @merkley.senate.gov, who rightly point out that BAAJA enables Trump to favor fossil fuel projects, even under the naive assumption that our President would follow the law as written. Thank you for your sanity, Senators!

You think some progressive humans are happy about Lula's win? Nature has literally sighed a breath of relief as we understand the Amazon region to be the lungs of planet Earth. And it is lined up to be protected, unlike plans under Bolsonaro.

Absolutely FABULOUS news for all life on Earth, especially the Amazon rainforest!!!! Despite the fascists playing every dirty, cheating trick in the book to steal this election, the people of Brazil saw through the lies. So, so, happy and relieved this morning 🇧🇷 👏 share.google/UdpzcSkD5us7...

Ultimately, if you only have time to know one thing about all of this, just know that not a single solitary tech oligarch, tech company, or tech-backed politician has a single solitary serious commitment to the existence of Black political power or economic security in their plans for the future.

As a key architect of the Senate permitting deal, @heinrich.senate.gov has aligned himself w/Billionaire tech, energy, & finance interests. He's bulldozing over New Mexicans & our values, obscuring the immense harms this bill will cause. This bill does not "codify" NHPA protections. It guts them.

@kylec.bsky.social If you so choose, please ask this question to politicians. What is something that you take full accountability for, whether it goes right or wrong? This can be used for policy decisions, bills sponsored, votes cast, anything.

Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is you-er than you. Shout aloud, I am glad to be what I am. Thank goodness I'm not a ham, or a clam, or a dusty old jar of gooseberry jam. I am what I am, what a great thing to be. If I say so myself, happy everyday to me! -Seuss

Sharing some serious questions I ask myself: How are you throttling your curiosity & desire? How are you wanting others to not be who they are? How you can you build your core strength by listening to the voices of your deeper desires? What if you could contribute more by not fitting in?

Are you ready to withdraw your sponsorship, @heinrich.senate.gov ?

Important points to remember these days. Solar and wind power use almost no water. Natural gas and coal power use HUGE amounts of water.

John Kostyack@kostyack.bsky.social

Data centers' water consumption is enormous & growing, thanks to the heavy reliance on gas-fired power. Most refuse to disclose this consumption. Asked why, Googe dodges, says it has "concentrated on powering data centers with renewable energy." Except it doesn't disclose its power sources either.

ease note @heinrich.senate.gov that this govt is 100% untrustworthy and there is NO making deals with them as they will do WTF they want regardless. Stop collaborating with the enemies of our nation.

It is highly likely this will fail to persuade a single one of the techno optimists, including many in the clean energy crowd, but a core reason I feel disdain for the Senate permitting deal is that it is soulless. People want to be part of a living world, not a soulless machine.
