A point I've been making for the past 5 years or so is becoming much more clear. "The primary reason for all this concerns cost: “Unsubsidized renewable energy remains the most cost competitive form of new-build generation,” according to Lazard’s latest benchmarking analysis. "

bloomberg.comCockroach Cleantech Is Flipping the Script on Fossil FuelsDespite the mass extinction event known as the second Trump administration, cleantech lives. Renewable energy deployment is breaking records, even in the US, and more than one-in-four of every new pas...

For the past few years I've been noting that the transition to clean energy is being driven by favorable economics. More evidence. "For those with skin in the game and an eye for a good investment, clean energy has become a no-brainer."

"For its EV customers, the company retains ownership of the battery on its own balance sheet. The customer buys the truck at a significantly lower price point – around Rs 55 lakh and does not carry battery-related risk." Interesting bit in an article headlined by LNG trucking...

“We said we’ll own the battery. Battery is nothing but a fuel for us,” Mimani explains. “We’re getting a 55 lakh vehicle, which is more comfortable for the transport segment to assess and venture into EV. Our skin is in the game with them.”

"China started with LNG trucks about seven or eight years ago, then moved into EVs." China has a built in economic advantage for LNG that India does not (cheaper domestically produced LNG) and so India most likely will just skip the LNG part and move to EVs.

"The equipment needed to keep a three-person home running will pay for itself in as little as 16 months, BloombergNEF research shows — but, at $4,500, getting set up costs about seven times as much as buying a new petrol generator."

Good morning with good news: Australia's main grid Q3 2026 gas power fell 34% to 2000 level. Why? Battery supply about tripled, while renewables set new record of 44.3%, up from 41.8%. Small solar rose enough to match itself the grid's 1.3% growth! www.bloomberg.com/news/article... #energysky

"Chinese electric semi truck sales jumped almost 80% in the first half of 2026 compared to 2025, and are on pace to account for over 30% of all heavy trucks sold this year – and that pace is accelerating."

“The severity of methane leaks calls into question the industry’s commitment to voluntarily reach their climate goals,” he continued, saying that the apparent infractions “certainly necessitate [the New Mexico Environment Department] pursuing enforceable rules related to methane super-emitters.”

If there were not technologies currently replacing oil to eliminate some demand, this crisis would have broken the global economy. "The average rate for hauling crude has surged above $20 a barrel, up from $3 a year ago, analysts including Yulia Zhestkova Grigsby wrote in a note."

“There were methane plumes at all times of day from all directions,” he said. “The density of wells is so high in that area, you will probably not be able to assign that to any particular location.”

To Wilson, the activist who documents emissions, all the talk about rulemaking has little effect on the ground... “Even if we had the best rules you could think of, we don’t have enough people to enforce those,” she said. “It would take an army.”

Wiring up!!!! "Emerging economies across Asia, Africa, Latin America and parts of the Middle East have outspent the rest of the world since 2024 on key clean energy components, setting themselves up for further rapid electrification."

reuters.comCOMMENTARY: The Global South is wiring up for an electric futureThe US and Israeli war against Iran has been the big energy story in 2026, but the quiet retooling of power grids from Lagos to Manila may prove to be of greater significance in the long run.

"Since the beginning of 2024, the countries of the ‌Global South have accounted for over half of the worldwide spending on three key sets of China-made technology: grid equipment, cooling systems, and solar arrays, data from think tank Ember shows"

"Each panel also represents a quantity of fuel that never needs to be imported for power production, and helps boost local support for additional renewable energy deployment going forward." 💡

Have you heard about the permitting bill? Guess who thinks it's a great idea? "Meg O’Neill, the chief executive of British oil company BP, which operates in the U.S., said the bill would help unlock the full potential of American energy and strengthen domestic energy security." Any questions?

wsj.comExclusive | U.S. Risks Losing Tech Race Without Energy Push, Say Former Trump, Biden OfficialsMike Pompeo, Janet Yellen and others urged Congress to pass an energy-permitting bill.

"Some say the [oil and gas] industry should clean up its own mess" Some do say. I am one of the some that do. The industry is sticking the public with the bill to clean up the mess they made.

At the same time, the Iran war has countries and businesses questioning the durability of importing energy, which is driving more electrification, he said. “Most of the world doesn’t have a lot of oil and gas,” he said. “People are getting more and more nervous about chaos.”

If you base your economic on imported fossil fuels, you need to expect these sort of events. If your competition bases their economy on lower cost clean energy you will be at a disadvantage.

"Power generation from coal and gas fell 1.4% in China in September"

Power generation from coal and gas fell 1.4% in China in September, despite a steep drop in hydropower, as solar, wind and nuclear more than covered all additional power demand. Coal&gas fell for the third month in a row. Monthly China statistics 🧵👇

If I were to say to you that there was a new deal about to be agreed on by politicians and this administration – which is hostile to clean energy - and I claimed it was good for the clean energy industry and the climate, would you believe me? Why?

"Two percent leakage is massive from a climate standpoint," said lead author Zachary Barkley, an associate research professor in the Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science

"Our findings add to indicators that more methane than imagined may be escaping into the atmosphere from U.S. cities, even cities with relatively modern distribution systems like Indianapolis." More than imagined. Which is why using science is better than imagining fossil fuels are clean.
