I read 100 Years of Solitude last year and loved it, so I picked this up when I saw it at the bookstore last weekend. I’m only a chapter in and I’m already in my feelings. Márquez was a brilliant writer. 😭 #booksky

While independent bookstores are giving out free whistles, hosting protest sign making events, and donating proceeds to mutual aid, Amazon is *checks notes* providing technology that assists ICE in their terrorizing of communities. Independent bookstores deserve your support. Amazon does not.

#V6 just went up on streaming for the first time (to my knowledge). I was obsessed with these guys back in college and I’m swimming in nostalgia right now #jpop #japanesepop #applemusic

We watched the animated Lion King (first time in a lot of years for me) and wow turns out I have not gotten over the collective millennial trauma. I still cried very real tears. 😭

I’m in my 40s now and I still occasionally think about how that book got thrown away. Young me was so confused; its contents had been so helpful. Had it been wrong of me somehow to want to know these things? Can we please teach our kids age appropriate things they need to know?

Re: the other stuff - If there’s certain things you won’t want your kid reading, ok, you’re the parent. However, you have to be involved with your kid enough to communicate those boundaries to them and screen their materials if needed. Banning those materials from EVERYONE is not right.

A couple of books these goobers removed are books about puberty for teens. I had a book like that when I was a young teen. My folks were not terribly forthcoming with this info. When my mom found the book, she threw it away. Kids NEED reliable medical information about their bodies.

That ought to do it

So on Big Bill, H.R.1, a provision added was a $25 billion fund to help rural hospitals. Problem: Medicaid cuts are roughly $1 trillion over 10 years. Since roughly 24% of rural population is on Medicaid, that's roughly a $240 billion cut A $25B rural fund offsets only about 1/10th of the cuts.
