My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

Something I was struck by knowing Danielle, her husband and her late brother Andrew (and talking with George Takei) was the very sincere love those Star Trek cast members had for each other. That whole thing was thrust upon them and their obvious deep friendship was so clear. What a gift.

A fun Easter egg on the poster for this one, Bob Fingerman hid Mike and the Boys and Schnappi in areas that are either cropped out or covered on the final poster

When I was a kid, it was OK to smoke virtually everywhere, all the time. Buses, movie theatres, shopping malls, airplanes, you name it. It was impossible to get away from that crap. By the time I was a teenager the rest of us started getting traction. Would never go back to that.

Should we really allow ourselves to be engulfed by a demonic holiday that invokes Hell? Alas, I’m afraid we’re stuck with Christmas, but at least we’ll have the happy memory of Halloween to help us make it through the season.

At the end of the clip, after Emmer’s ridiculous, easily challenged answer: KARL: “Let’s turn to the midterms…” Beltway reporters are more afraid of asking follow-up questions than Mister Mxyzptlk is of saying his name backwards.

KARL: This idea of livestreaming an execution -- US Catholic Bishops called it 'a barbaric promotion of culture of death.' Are you in favor? EMMER: I'm so happy we have a president who will make a decision in the best interest of the people. He will hold the criminals and terrorists accountable.

Having been a convicted Christian for 40 years, I can attest to the utter precision of this statement. As a Zen hermit monk for the past 24 years, I can also attest to its complete application to Buddhism.
