Via pics.by.tre on instagram. I love this picture of ex teammates Alex Sharp & Hannah Hank looking fired up on Saturday #wnbl

Jazmin Shelley 26 pts, 6 Rebs, 6 asts, 3 stls & 2 blocks. 10 of 15 from the field, 4 of 6 from 3. Her improvement hasn’t been linear but this is one of the better games I’ve seen her play and she’s had some big scoring games for Geelong. She looks stronger in the core, and just as twitchy #wnbl

Izzy Bourne hits the side of the backboard from an uncontested 3 pt corner look. Her 3 point splits this season must be an eye sore. Sydney are going to hold on despite Townsville showing some fight. Really impressed with Sydney’s even spread of contribution. What a win! #wnbl

Maya Dodson shooting face up 14 footers doesn’t seem to be the answer to her offensive woes. The best I’ve seen so far with Maya is spins that get her close enough to fade. She’s got a great wing span. Still taking a little while to find her feet. She’s a wonderful social media follow #wnbl

I need to forgive Brad Rosen, it’s Andrew Parkinson I can’t deal with in special commentary. I don’t mind Damon Lowery’s comments because he does some x & o stuff and he’s flowery but the rest of the male special commentators for channel 9 are terrible. Thank goodness for the women #wnbl

Townsville held to a 12 pt qtr. Woody still not getting an inch from Nicholson & we are about to head into ‘Nicholson qtr’. Thank goodness for Marie Gulich because Townsville haven’t looked like finding easy buckets from anyone else #wnbl

Jazmin Shelley looks like Sami Whitcomb out there right now. No exaggeration. Sydney, on the toughest road trip in the league, lead by 22! #wnbl

You could probably argue Townsville have looked out of sorts all season except for the 4th qtr of their last game & Abbey Ellis & Woody have had some individual big games. They just aren’t the usual finger licking offence selves. When Sowah shows up they get some more depth back at least #wnbl

SBS on demand just had an commercial show during a timeout break here on the 9now app and my mind is melting. Wtf!? #wnbl

Townsville are getting Alex Fowler paint touches and that’s what she needs so she can get this season rolling. 7 points so far. She’s looking active. I’ve said it before but Marie Gulich’s to get down hill from the perimeter at 6’5” is such a sweet wrinkle to the Fire offence #wnbl

I completely forgot to mention this. I guess w/ such a quick turnaround from last game and the travel needed to get all the way to North Queensland-they aren’t taking any risks with her #wnbl

This post is unavailable.

Gulich has all 13 pts of Townsville’s bench scoring. Alex Fowler had a long stretch on the bench which might have been because of fouls but I didn’t really like it. She had 7 of the Fire’s first 12 pts & hasn’t scored since. Ellis played all 40 mins last game- 50 seconds on the bench today #wnbl

Jazmin Shelley is making the conversation about Opals representation louder and louder. Highlight plays are the icing on the cake to a 14 pt, 3 ast 1st half. A really even contribution by the Flames. An edge on the boards & feet touching the paint sees them up by 6 at half time #wnbl

Sydney have restored an 8 pt advantage. This game has had several runs. Sydney getting paint touches at will in this latest. I can’t stand Brad Rosen’s special commentary. Courtney Woods has had just the single rebound so far. The Fire need to get her involved #wnbl

Lauren Jensen may have handled the ball in pick n roll more in this game than any so far this year & it’s only a qtr and a half old. I know it isn’t easy being an import with Townsville who have a lot of mouths to feed but she’s been very passive so far this season #wnbl

Just 3 turnovers in the 1st period from both teams. Jaz Shelley is throwing no lookers & scoring from all 3 levels. The Emma-Nnopu sisters are matched up on each other. This is living up to the hype. Need the Townsville crowd to get a little more excited. #wnbl

If you unfurl a championship banner you’re guaranteed a loss, right? Flames half court sets are moving fast. Jaz Shelley vs Abbey Ellis & Loz Nicholson vs Courtney Woods has been Sydney victories early. Flames by 8 with 5 1/2 to go in the 1st #wnbl

#wnbl afternoon hoops. Reigning champions vs the reigning wooden spooners. Can Abbey Ellis give us another “worldie” performance? Is Ally Wilson off mins restriction? Can Sydney start 4 & zip? Can Alex Fowler finally get it started? Fowler v Bourne is a WC squad match up to watch

I didn’t think Geelong could win without Rocci but Alex Sharp played like she was in her Diamond Valley uniform. Dakota Crichton has come a long way since her development player days for the Venom. Madi Ryan in person is as exciting as excepted. Great atmosphere too boot #wnbl

Leaving for Geelong in a couple of hours to watch Geelong vs Southside in the #wnbl. Sold out game which is exciting but also can be a bit of a pain because I’m so tall and my elbows are pointy so hopefully I sit next to somebody little. Bulldogs vs Melbourne in the #aflw after that. Go sports!

Yang Shuyu just 7 mins total with foul trouble & zero points. She was back on court with less than a minute to go. Ally Wilson, first game of the season and on a mins restriction, looked really nice. They may not have played a finals challenger yet but 3-0 is a great start to 2026-27. #wnbl

Sydney home by 12. Canberra didn't execute the sets that would have made it close. Nicole Munger & Amy Atwell shot some contested 3 balls that missed. Canberra couldn't get back to the high-low plays to Nyadiew Puoch. Loz Nicholson doing her 4th qtr things. Charlise Dunn really stood out to me #wnbl

Canberra bench unit hasn't been able to keep up the momentum. A few turnovers have turned into Sydney baskets. Charlise Dunn has had her best quarter in the #WNBL. Her energy and hustle really settled the Flames who hadn't scored for ages to start this qtr. Canberra need their starters back in.

Canberra have changed their defensive scheme and they are hedging and switching picks now. They have also gone back to a high low involving the Puoch sisters and Sydney don't have the length to bother Nyadiew when she's got a seal. Jaz Shelley can't guard her under the hoop #wnbl

I know Manny Puoch got drafted to the #wnba but I don't think she's ready at all. There's a little of Jonquel Jones about her efforts defensively. I don't think her feet are as slow as she has shown tonight. She's a better shooter than Nyadiew, strong in the core, but she's still very raw #wnbl

Flames by 8 at the half. The Caps with a little run mid-qtr that stopped this game from getting out to 15 pt type deficit. Amy Atwell did not score in the 2nd period. I like that Sydney's offence was so paint heavy and now they are starting to see open 3s. Sydney should run away w/ this #wnbl

Nyadiew Puoch is giving us the complete Nards game. Drives into traffic, turnovers, airballs, paint touches, offensive rebounds & drawing fouls. Canberra really need her to crash the boards because they don't a lot of good rebounders. Not a lot of POA defence in this one surprisingly #wnbl

Izzy Bourne has had a lot of responsibility bringing the ball up court and she has started this game better than any other in round 1. Sydney are living in the paint-28 of their 39 pts have come from there. The multiple guard line ups give them so many options offensively #wnbl

Sydney by 4 after the first. End to end game, Canberra bench unit might struggle to score at the same level as Sydney's. Entertaining start #wnbl

Canberra aren't switching and are playing in drop so if Sydney's guard rotation keeps its dribble and seeks drives there's going to be openinga. Early days, I've seen a couple of girls not keep their dribble, Ally Wilson & Loz Nicholson with a couple of nice reads of that drop coverage since #wnbl

The Caps don't wait about, they look to drive, especially Nyadiew Puoch, without a pick or any play action before hand. Nyadiew has started the season so aggressively seeking paint touches, but her touch around the rim still looks very raw #wnbl
