So a little about me and my random ideas. I've been gaming since the mid 80s. Mostly as a forever GM. My fav settings are Sci-fi mostly but I also done massive amount of fantasy and some horror. My GM style is a 50/50 mix of planed and off the cuff. My stance is we gane to have fun and tell a story

Random #TTRPG idea: the BBEG had a moment of clarity in their defeat at the hands of the last heroes. In the last moment they cast their soul out to find a host. Now that's your problem you got stuck with it and they want you to right many of their wrongs.

Random #TTRPG idea: if you give the players a time limit stick to it. Fake timers quickly become jokes if you never follow through. You can of course give them ways to extend the timer but you should introduce them early before they are really needed.

As part of an expedition to Antarctica, the heroes face rivals, plotting secret societies and the frozen wastes. But nothing can prepare them for what awaits! Expedition Beyond Mount Terror is available to buy! https://buff.ly/3XdJ7pk #ttrpg #dnd #rpg

Random #TTRPG idea: At first you thought it odd when you spotted the twins because other people told you they just looked similar not that they were really twins. Same when a third showed up. Its been a week and there is around a dozen now. All the same person but no one belives you.

Had a nightmare about this. Was dreaming about this world and I was some scrapper digging through piles of tech scarp looking for "the good stuff" it was very surreal

Was thinking more on this #TTRPG idea. Could really lean into the proxy idea. Have the players each have an AI patron that sends them on tasks legal or not in exchange for pay or perks. Think like fixers in other cyberpunk settings. There can be a whole world of AI power plays going on.

Random #TTRPG idea: The forgotten realms had an event called the time of troubles where gods were forced into the mortal realms. You can do this in your campaign. Give your players a chance to interact with the gods they follow or the chance to defeat one. Leaving a lasting impact on your world

Random #TTRPG idea: the heroes are being helped by the BBEG. The BBEG has seen the future and knows they can't stop the heroes. But can guide them along a path when their death works in their favor.

Random #TTRPG idea: the party with their traumatic/edgy backstories finds they are being haunted by visions of what could have been. Of the life they might have had. And deep within them a soft voice is calling to them

Random #TTRPG idea: Meat Proxy a cyberpunk setting where AIs do everything effectively controlling the world. Basic income keeps the population just above abject poverty. The players are part of an underground that uses exploits and other crime to have a better life.

Random #TTRPG idea: Your steampunk setting's mcguffin power source that is core to all the tech turns out to be a self aware hive mind and you just hit a tipping point that has shattered it. Now it's awake and it's not happy

Random #TTRPG idea: grey goo is a common sci-fi idea where unchecked nano machines consume everything to make more. What about a setting where this happened ages ago. But now the nanos have evolved into a new eco system with nanos taking the place of cells and forming complex life

Random #TTRPG idea: We need a cyberpunk game that is all just the net running. So most games in this genre make running either overly simple and make it bog down other parts of play. So just make one that is highly detailed on the running side and instead plays down the meat suit side of things.

Man this better happen and they better not mess it up.

Random #TTRPG idea: Look all I'm saying is we already have a ton of animal based superheroes. Nothing is stopping you from making a furry based superhero game where the process of getting super powers turns you into an anthro.

Random #TTRPG idea: you already know you can run a modern setting in your home town. But with some tweaks you can run any settings. Spice up the city map, reskin it for a fantasy capital city or a space colony. Reimagine public figures in this new setting and have fun with it.

Random #TTRPG idea: run an x file style campaign chasing aliens. But slowly make it clear that it's some youtube prankers. When they find out and get a lead on who it is have them find out they have been missing for years.

Random #TTRPG idea: a building appeared in the town overnight. But everyone you ask says it's always been there. Yet no one knows anything about it and no one wants to go inside. They all just randomly have some reason not to.

I have a couple of their games that use this system. And I like how it has this vibe of you don't roll for everything only stuff that really matters narratively. Pick a lock on a door and your skilled might just let it happen if it's not hyper critical. Even if the stuff inside is.

Keeps the rp flowing. If your not skilled you would need to roll. If your in a hurry or bring chased also you would roll even if skilled. Roll when the outcome matters to the scene. There is other parts a like. But this is the big draw to me.

Random #TTRPG idea: Reminder to check in with your players. Running a game you can lose sight of the big picture. This is a co-op narrative you are crafting so from time to time ask your players how they feel about the game. Ask about what they like and what they didn't. Ask about their goals.

Random #TTRPG Idea: the village has pooled their money to hire your party. They want you to go check out the village upstream in the mountains. Last month there was screaming echoing in the night. Since then the stream started drying up. They are too scared to go check themselves.

Random #TTRPG idea: I have a thing for slow apocalypses. Settings were it's not the end yet but you can see it. So here's one. A sci-fi setting where a large chunk of earth has been depopulated. Now teams go out to dead arcologies to explore and loot them while trying to figure out why they failed

I had this idea for a video game. You know those shop simulators style games. What if you took that and slapped it onto a Stalker/Tarkov style game and your the random merchant that shows up. So you have the loot and stay ahead of the protags. Then open shop at key points.

Random #TTRPG idea: next time someone tells you sci-fi stuff does not belong in fantasy remind them Gary Gygax in 1980 put out an office D&D adventure with a crashed space ship to explode. Complete with dead aliens and robots.

Sigh so many typos.... Remember spell check cant save you when your dyslexia swaps out words that are kind of close but also happen to be spelled correctly

Random #TTRPG idea: mistaken identity can be a fun plot hook. Have players be mistaken for others. Pull them into something slowly at first then cross the point of no return where it's too late to correct the mistake without them getting into a lot of trouble

Random #TTRPG idea: That imaginary friend you had... The warlock that just joined the party tells you they said hello and they want you to know they got your back. Well not directly but that's why the warlock is here

Being an old (50+) introvert means I know I should be more aware of keeping in touch with friends but also just being too happy just vibing to my own thing at home. The down side it is when you actually want to do stuff with others you realize the last time you spoke was decades ago

Look all I'm saying is a trip to silent Hill is probably more relaxing than whatever is going on right now

Random #TTRPG option: I know it's cool to hate on 5e (or whatever it's called now) but you have to understand D&D is the starting point for a lot of people. Their first game and where they fall in love with the hobby. Yes it's over streamlined and a bit simple in its current version but that's ok

Let people enjoy what they enjoy. And if you really want to get people to try other systems don't open with telling them the one they like sucks. I will always push folk to try new different systems and I'm not a big fan of current d&d. But I often try telling people the similarities first

Random #TTRPG idea: you recovered the mcguffin but find that you only have days until it de-mcguffins so time to back track home in half the time you came here.

Random #TTRPG idea: have your high level group take on apprentices. Let them shape them for a few levels. Then have them need to leave them behind when they go take on the BBEG. Ok so now the new group is pre made complete with revenge back story and inter party links.

As a big robot fan I'm happy to see a new dlc for MechWarrior 5 drop I can't wait for the weekend so I can dive back into a new campaign

Random #TTRPG idea: a fantasy setting in the middle of its creation myth. The old gods are dead the old world destroyed and from this maelstrom new gods emerge and start shaping a new world. So the world map is always growing and changing and new things being created. More+

You still get the normal fantasy continent, races, and kingdom as creation that's a long time so there is already a couple of thousand years of history. But it's not uncommon to find new lands or new monsters out in the world +

You can even have bits of the previous worlds here and there. Maybe a few old gods sleeping/hiding. I'm always a fan when a fantasy setting learns into the fantastic in its world

Random #TTRPG idea: you died and it took a while for the group to recover your body and cast resurrection. In that time something possessed your bones in an attempt to raise you as a skeleton. But now you're alive with a skeleton inside you and you have to learn to work together

Random #TTRPG idea: it's spooky season time to run that adventure where the twist is really ghosts and the adventure is them figuring this out and coming to terms with it so they can pass on

Random #TTRPG idea: The queen's favorite dog is really a hellhound that was polymorphed and it is begging you to save it

Random #TTRPG idea: If you want to feel better about your magic/tech in your world building just look up stuff on electromagnetics half of it would be seen as silly if we did not already have it. Yeah a power source that does everything sounds silly. And don't get me started on magnetrons

Random #ttrpg idea: You know you want to run a World of Darkness game where the players all have Jojo stands

Random #TTRPG idea: They keep sending you out on dangerous missions because they like you but they're also self sabotaging and are kind of fishing for more trauma in their life.
