I'm super excited for Samhain! Anyone else planning to celebrate? Got any fun ideas to share? Hit me! #pagan #witches #October #Halloween #spooky

Something a little different today. We're now in the month of October, and my favourite holiday is swiftly approaching. For my fellow pagans and practitioners, this one goes out to you! #witch #pagan #october #halloween medium.com/weeds-wildfl...

Man, I don't remember if I totally nuked my Twitter account or just abandoned it, but I haven't touched it in years. It's just a cesspool of mindless Nazi zombies sharing braindead far right political memes and drooling about 'free speech.'

If so, now is the perfect time to gain ground without them turning up. Everybody spam the hell out of the Republicans and your representatives and make their real constituents' stances clear! They can't hide behind fake support, so smash them with the truth. It'll be cathartic if nothing else.

In case you were wondering why Donald’s biggest fans suddenly went silent . . .

This should alarm every American. Trump is shutting out independent election observers while preparing to send his own DOJ monitors to polling places. That's a page out of Putin's playbook. Our elections belong to the people — not Donald Trump.

ms.nowTrump administration refuses international election monitors for first time in over 2 decadesThe decision not to invite observers from the OSCE puts the U.S. alongside Russia and Belarus, while the Justice Department prepares to deploy its own poll monitors.

This is basically what it felt like to leave Twitter for Bluesky. Still love it here. Y'all are my kind of weirdos.

Went shopping for Yule gifts for my spouse. While I was picking up some bits and bobs from the bookstore -we both love to read, it's an easy shopping place to hit first- I happened upon the spooky season shelf. And a beautiful copy of Bram Stoker's Dracula. I've never read it. This should be fun!

"De-Trumpification" has to be one of the top agenda items if Dems win power. All the lawlessness and every last one of his efforts to turn DC into an imperial capital should be undone.

So, a possible pneumonic plague outbreak in Russia. Cool. Cool, cool, cool. Not at ALL fucking terrifying given who is running the healthcare system in the most powerful nation on Earth. Cool.

As we enter the final month before the midterms, don't get cocky. If anything, it's time to ramp up the work and pour it on. Check your registration. Vote early. Push your friends and family too. Look for local places to help out. Phone bank and write postcards. Volunteer for Election Day.

When will this stop? How long will these people have to endure such mistreatment?

In Alligator Alcatraz, detainees were forced into small outdoor cages for hours at a time. In Camp East Montana, detainees report beatings from guards and denial of medical care. In Delaney Hall, detainees report unsafe drinking water and retaliatory abuse for speaking up. Unimaginable cruelty.

For 33 years, McConnell has voted against family and medical leave for working Americans. Then he disappears from the Senate for 92 days and keeps collecting his full paycheck. Apparently, paid leave is only a problem when someone else gets it.

NSF has reduced the research budget for all atmospheric, ocean, and earth sciences by ~80%. 80%! A lot of us will not be conducting new research or training new students for the foreseeable future.

the extent to which trans people are being told that they should hold their noses and support candidates who are saying they don’t exist (as Talarico said about nonbinary people earlier this week, for ex) or that their identity and HEALTHCARE are up for debate is shameful

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

The vitriol directed at me and other members of the trans community for having the audacity to declare our votes are not to be taken for granted. By cisgender people who otherwise have called themselves allies. I wish it weren’t so utterly predictable.

This is what bigotry does. And we fucking knew it would; the bigots NEVER talk about trans men, only trans women, and this is what allies have been pointing out for years! There's no way for transgender people to win in this scenario.

Genital exams??? I would have never played a single sport. This isn’t reasonable stuff and thats great for them! Making sports suck for girls helps them in their other goals of getting women out of public life and reestablishing their preferred men on top.

I would have gone out and found like an 8th generation Texan family who had an adult trans kid who fled Texas and cut an ad with them going "i voted the way i did to keep this texas family together, but Ken Paxton drove them apart. When the government reaches into the home, I begin to question it."

Too many people online seem to conflate left politics with being obnoxious and scathing and Mamdani is such a model for combining a principled ideological vision with civility and grace. You shake hands, you act like a grown up even whether others aren’t. You show up.
