NEW in Porch Party: Dudes, no one wants to toil alone in a box on their screen for the enrichment of others. Unlike, say, Mamdani, the masters of AI and Trump seem strangely oblivious to the fact that Americans want to live in a better reality, here on Earth www.porchpartynews.com/p/voters-bet...

porchpartynews.comVoters want to live in a better realityStoked to benefit AI stockholders by toiling in a 'digital factory' on a grim, treeless Earth? Of course you are!

Guessing two things are going on: 1) the need to verify an extremely serious allegation, which I respect; 2) this story being “more of the same” or what we already think/know about Trump, which is problematic. Him being a good guy would be news, but him being accused of rape is just Tuesday

Andy Craig@andycraig.bsky.social

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

There is a ton of pressure and sensitivity for news orgs in how they handle a revelation like this so close to an election, and I would guess high-level discussions are happening. Even if it’s a story that just confirms our priors about a man elected AFTER bragging about sexually assaulting women.

The Times included an account from Béatrice Keul in their big Dec 2025 piece on Trump’s often nonconsensual relations with women in association with Epstein. At the time, she told them directly she wasn’t revealing the whole story of what he did due to threats www.nytimes.com/2025/12/18/u...

This news may be “old” in some ways, and it’s a huge deal to air an allegation of a violent rape by the man now president—who is litigious and on the warpath toward any accountability media. But it’s still big news, esp if a prior NYT source who said she wasn’t talking due to threats IS now talking

We’re so used to impunity we don’t even know how to process punity

I can’t find it now but I think a lot about that post about an AI that can drink a beer with your buddy at a table by the river on a sunny day so you have time to make more spreadsheets

House Judiciary Democrats have just released a 50-page report that pulls together years of assault allegations against Trump and his reported connections to Jeffrey Epstein. The report calls for a special counsel to investigate Trump's ties to Epstein.
