I'm sure we've all been in that position that in the midst of activity we feel our decision making under strain but time away (a short moment or a long break) brings the perspective, peace and clarity to help you feel better able to exercise judgement wadds.substack.com/p/better-lea...

wadds.substack.comBetter learning and better decisions come from taking time outI spent last week on holiday in Italy. There’s solid science to explain why it was one of the best weeks of learning I’ve had since the summer.

It can feel difficult in the current climate to talk about this issue, but that makes it even more important to do so Recognising discrimination in any form and putting the work in to change it is all our responsibility 2/3 #Health #Inequalities

But for a health and care regulator committed to driving high quality care for everyone it's vital The work that was published yesterday is another step in our journey to achieve that ambition - excited to see where we go next 3/3 #Health #Inequalities

Thinking about the Prime Minister's departure from a political communication perspective Whatever your thoughts on what the PM achieved (or didn't) there is a fair amount of consensus that the communication from himself and the administration was not working 1/6 #Comms #PR

What Starmer didn't seem to grasp, but effective political communicators from Blair to Mamdani and even Farage do, is that the way politicians really connect with the public is by inspiring an idea of the country and what their administration will make of it 5/6 #Comms #PR

And while these 'facts' are likely true they don't talk to how living in the UK is actually experienced by most people - and Starmer was rarely if ever able to communicate on this level 3/6 #Comms #PR

I think the speech yesterday was a prime example of the problematic approach Starmer favoured: facts over feelings In the speech he listed off the things the government has delivered and what's changed 2/6 #Comms #PR

But the truth is that effective leadership and communication can't be done without empathy at its heart. Have written what this should mean for anyone working in comms and leadership There is also a star trek reference for fellow geeks!

I really hate this northeastbylines.co.uk/region/north... I get it's a way to keep funding for the arts but to bring everything back to economic development is such a reductionist approach Life is more than just the bottom line, art is the enrichment that takes us from survival to really living

northeastbylines.co.ukMayor takes new power over arts fundingKim McGuinness will use new powers to reshape arts funding in the region to ensure it supports economic growth as well as enriching culture.

This is a national issue impacting everyone, but this podcast does a really good job of exploring the specifics of the impact on NHS staff We all have a part to play in pushing back against all forms or prejudice - inaction is no longer an option, in the current climate it becomes complicity 2/2

Delighted that all 3 Green Party candidates are now a team of councillors, with @nickhartleygreen.bsky.social having been re-elected.

Thank you for all the many messages and good wishes. You’re all brilliant, and I genuinely wouldn’t be doing this work without your support and encouragement. From residents across Byker, to @nclgreenparty.bsky.social colleagues, to friends and family - it’s all teamwork, working together.

On Thursday, you’ll have an important decision to make. The work of Councillors may not be glamorous and is often overlooked, but it has a real impact on daily life across our communities. I've written in East Anglia bylines on why you should vote Green this week.

This kind of approach could be more effective in delivering what people need, the challenge is that political necessity will often work counter to this Question is, how can we have policy that serves people's needs rather than politicians? #Health #NHS www.kingsfund.org.uk/insight-and-...

With the public valuing more safeguards over pace of diagnosis for example Feels like an area ripe for more public discourse so we can realise the potential of AI alongside maintaining trust 2/2

Really concerned to hear the Defence Secretary refuse to rule out UK's involvement in future strikes on Iran. Iraq lessons must be learned. Further escalation in the Middle East makes us all less safe. Starmer must rule out UK involvement immediately.

As we see more AI model use in medical diagnosis we'll need a serious conversation on how human validation interacts with them Who validates and at what stage will be key to making this safe and effective #Health #NHS #AI www.sixthtone.com/news/1018223...
