Currently testing RapidRaw. It’s a new(ish) open-source RAW editor developed by a single European programmer since mid-2025. It’s surprising how quickly it’s developing. It won’t be long before it gives the established RAW editors a run for their money. I'm very impressed! #photography #vibecode

The US ambassador just gave Europe an ultimatum: "You're with us or against us." This is precisely why tech sovereignty isn't optional. Relying on foreign tech, like Starlink in Ukraine, leaves us vulnerable in a US-China power struggle. Europe must build its own. www.ft.com/content/d1e2...

Today I visited “Eva Besnyö – The Liberated Camera” at Fotomuseum Den Haag. Besnyö (1910–2003) was a Hungarian-Dutch photographer whose work combined striking compositions with a keen eye for everyday life and social change. 1/6 #photography

Besnyö’s work was also deeply connected to society. In the 1970s, she became involved with the Dutch feminist movement Dolle Mina, photographing demonstrations and campaigns for women’s rights. Her camera became a tool for social change. #photography #WSocialPics #feminism 5/6

Eva Besnyö’s legacy goes beyond beautiful photographs. Her work reminds us that photography can be art, historical documentation and social commentary at the same time. Ordinary life is worth observing, recording and remembering. #photography #WSocialPics 6/6

In 1932, Besnyö moved to the Netherlands as Nazism gained ground in Germany. She became an important figure in Dutch modern photography, showing how a camera could do more than simply record reality. #photography #WSocialPics 3/6

What makes Besnyö’s photography so compelling is her ability to find beauty and meaning in ordinary scenes. People, streets, buildings and everyday moments became subjects for carefully composed, often surprisingly modern images. #photography #WSocialPics 4/6

Born in Budapest, Eva Besnyö moved to Berlin in 1930, where she embraced the New Photography movement. Unusual angles, strong diagonals, geometric shapes and dramatic contrasts became characteristic of her early work. #photography #WSocialPics 2/6

I agree with Kevin. Don’t compare W with other platforms, otherwise it’s doomed to fail. Let it grow organically in line with the values established at the outset and W will flourish.

Kevin Haelterman@kevinhaelterman.wsocial.eu

For W to succeed, I don’t think it should be positioned as an alternative to anything. Every time that framing comes up, it feels like a missed opportunity. W should aim to stand on its own: new ideas, new systems, a new way of thinking. Not a copy of what others have done with a different vibe.

I came across this tiny flower this summer. I think it’s the Hoary Willowherb, but please correct me if I’m wrong. It’s a weed that grew rampantly in my garden, but I think it’s a lovely little flower. #wildflower #plantphotography #flowerphotography #naturephotography #tinyflowers #photography

I don’t want to hate. I don’t want to feel overwhelmed. I don’t want to feel jealous. I just want a place for hope. A place to learn, share ideas and gain insight into others. I hope W can become our virtual Café Procope, A Brasileira or Coffe Baum in Europe. 🇪🇺☕ @anna.wsocial.eu #socialmedia

I suspect making bad coffee is simply beyond the Italian skill set. Give an Italian terrible beans, broken equipment and explicit instructions to ruin it, and they’d still hand you a perfectly respectable espresso.

Ordered an Americano at Starbucks. I was handed an enormous bucket of coffee that was practically undrinkable. How on earth did this company grow into a global empire? Is it because they turn everything else into milkshakes?

Separate cycle tracks alongside rural main roads give the elderly or people with mobility issues far more freedom. Someone on a mobility scooter can travel safely from town to town, without having to rely on a car or public transport. This is what accessible transport infrastructure looks like.

Great idea from Stefan! Enjoying W Social? Help W grow by leaving a review on the App Store or Google Play. It only takes a minute, but it can make a real difference!

Do you know in the Netherlands it is not uncommon to spot dogs on bicycles? Whether in the front basket, in a cargo bike or trotting along, dogs also enjoy the same freedom cycling gives their owners in the city.
