Hey you, with the pretty face -- welcome to the human race. Reporter/editor, MLB.com. I like dogs. I’ve rewatched Frasier in its entirety way too many times. She/her

Boomer once tore his CCL (dog equivalent of the ACL) running around the yard with his dog cousin. Huskies are menaces to everyone, especially themselves.

The Brewers play "Glory Days" (about peaking in high school) as a celebratory song after they win. Pat Murphy referenced "Last Man Standing" (about grappling with mortality when your friends are all dying) in a pump-up speech for his team. An entire organization full of Springsteen misunderstanders.

To be clear, I'm not rooting for either team here. They're both fun and I'm looking forward to the rest of this series. BUT. Misappropriating Springsteen is a particular pet peeve of mine and I could not remain silent about this!

MLB pitcher Oscar Levis (Levy) was Black, and he was Jewish; a great new story. His WAR of 12.9 ranks 8th all-time among Jewish pitchers: Koufax (48.9), Fried (32.3), Holtzman (27.3), Roberts (23.6), Pelty (19.2), Stone (17.1), Mayer (13.5). www.jta.org/2026/10/23/s... h/t Brad Kolodny

I try to avoid posting AI slop (even when the AI slop makes me cry from laughing), but I actually lost it when I reached the end of the quotes on this and BlueSky's default text at the bottom read "That's all, folks!"

I’ve been released from IDF custody with a “warning,” apparently because of my public profile (I told them I wasn’t even a congressmember yet, just a nominee). But several dozen rabbis & participants harvesting olives with me are still in detention.

I guess I’m in for a long line of disappointments with Vonnegut adaptations that didn’t happen, including The Sirens of Titan by Dan Harmon (!!) and, before him…Jerry Garcia?!

After a vet visit, this is now the operating theory on Boomer's fur loss

Sarah Wexler@sarahwexler.bsky.social

Found out that zinc deficiency is common in huskies, which could explain some of the skin/fur loss issues Boomer’s been having. I’m sharing this information entirely because I want to post this meme.

Sometimes I think I've figured out making caramel and that it's not actually that hard. Then there's days like today where I have to try four times before getting it right. RIP all that sugar I wasted.

Eliana Moreno was an L.A. legend. Everything about this is devastating.

NBC News@nbcnews.com

A helicopter affiliated with NBC Los Angeles crashed while it was covering a fatal bus collision Tuesday evening, killing photojournalist Eliana Moreno and pilot George Marciniw and one person on the ground, the station and officials said.

He did it 🥲

I was shocked to see that, prior to his nomination for Widow's Bay, Stephen Root had only been nominated for an Emmy *once* (for Barry). I really hope he wins this time around, though he's got some stiff competition (I watch nearly all of these shows and like all of these actors)

A followup to this: someone we know was informed by her sister that Costco was having a sale on vanilla beans. The sister was told to get “about 10” (meaning 10 individual vanilla beans, total). She got 10 BOTTLES, containing 20 beans each. So that’s how I ended up with 40 free vanilla beans.

Gearing up to start baking for the cake tasting. Jack kindly went to Costco to get me some supplies. I asked for unsalted butter sticks, “4 boxes of 4” (meaning 16 sticks total). But with Costco’s ridiculous sizes, something got lost in translation and now I have 64 sticks of butter 😭

Personal news: Our foster, Lalla, got adopted! We were worried it would be difficult to find a home for this timid little girl, but the perfect person came to us and everyone involved is going to be so happy 🥰 Her new human is a talented artist who gave us the sweetest hand-drawn card 🥹

That’s the third dog we’ve fostered-to-adoption in the last two years! It’s hard work but the payoff is so incredible. Boomer and Nellie are very confused by this whole thing but they have also done a great job helping some shy pups come out of their shells and I’m proud of them for that.

Here's the official announcement of Parton's passing from her reps, along with the request that in lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library at www.imaginationlibrary.com

Dolly Parton, among a thousand other amazing things she did in her life, gifted over 330 million books to kids through her Imagination Library program. Her passing is a tremendous loss to the world, but you can support the program today to keep it going imaginationlibrary.com

The five Simpsons lines I've uttered most: "Ore-uh-GAH-no...what the hell?" "Mel Brooks is Jewish?!" "Mmmm...sacrilicious." "How does he keep up with the news like that?" And not quotes per se, but I am constantly (and often involuntarily) singing "See My Vest" and the songs from "Oh, Streetcar!"

The five Simpsons lines I’ve uttered most: 5) Milhouse: My Dad’s a pretty big wheel down at the cracker victory 4) McBain: Ice To See You 3) You Don’t Get Friends with Salad 2) Homer: And who can forget rat boy? 1) Comic Book Guy: “Is there a word in Klingon for lonliness? Oh yes. ‘Aag-plach!’”

When I travel, I play a game where I track MLB team logos I see people wearing. Just got back to L.A. after a 10-day trip through Cleveland, Madison, Chicago and Virginia (with layovers in Detroit and Atlanta). I spotted gear for 29 teams. I will never forgive the Marlins for my falling short.

In my experience, the Rockies and the two Florida teams are the hardest ones to find (outside of their respective markets, at least). Miraculously, I got both COL and TB at a Guardians game. But I didn’t even see Marlins passing by gates for planes heading to Miami and West Palm Beach!

My completely arbitrary rules: 1. Counting starts when I enter my first airport/ends when I exit my last. 2. Logo has to be on someone’s person (clothes, bags, tattoos etc.). A car decal, for example, wouldn’t count. 3. Up to 2 logos per person (so a hat I saw w/all Cactus League logos is no good).

Couldn’t bring myself to post anything about Wags yesterday. I just couldn’t accept that he’d passed. We’re all devastated. Monte Poole beautifully captured our effervescent, always upbeat friend who wore gratitude on his sleeve for every day he lived. www.nbcsportsbayarea.com/news/remembe...
