✅listen to ep @ work ✅cry @ work ✅go home, reread MFH for the 3rd time in as many years Could’ve listened to hours & hours of this convo tbh. The circular narrative was such a marvel to me, such a gut punch of a revelation, that I immediately went back & reread pg.1 when I finished the book.

LET'S GO LESBIANS!!! This week the great @amalelmohtar.com joined us to talk about "Metal From Heaven," a truly wild novel about building parallel power structures, workers' uprisings, lesbian sex, gender, and becoming Commie Jesus. Listen for free wherever you get your podcasts!!

Also appreciated the Scapegracers love from @amalelmohtar.com! It’s such a kick ass trilogy & I do see the through lines from that to MFH. The continuation & solidification of ideas & characters. Go read the Scapegracers! Anyway, could gush about METAL FROM HEAVEN forever & probably will!!

Also!! (Last thing! Maybe!) The mournful melancholy that undergirds Marney’s narration throughout the book is very important to me personally!!

What you have to understand about this book is that it is simultaneously a scream of rage, a scream of horniness, a scream of angst, a scream of triumph, a scream of sorrow, a scream of dysphoria, a scream of longing, and a scream of joy It's a lot of things, and all of them are screaming. It rules

Also loved the exploration of Hereafterist ideology. I think Marney’s personal story is a concentrated actualization of that ideology. She accepts her martyrdom as soon as she vows to kill Industry. It is a mutual annihilation that she commits to gladly both for her past & for a future she won’t see

Holy shit. What a banger of a first ep, can’t wait to listen!!

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our first podcast, Read Receipts, a weekly show about speculative fiction, genre, and nerd culture.

I listened to the Victorian Psycho audiobook at work today & found it delightfully unhinged & gory. However. Having seen the trailer for the film beforehand, I must ask: WHY must they always skinny-wash an explicitly fat character?? (I think Maika Monroe is great but @ powers that be: why??)

When the Museum is Closed by Emi Yagi was an utterly delightful read with an unexpectedly poignant perspective on fear of intimacy & self-imposed loneliness 💛

September reads! Especial favs: • A Snake Among Swans by Hannah Kaner • The Tapestry of Fate by Shannon Chakraborty • Affinity by Sarah Waters • The Duke by Anna Cowan • Volatile Memory by Seth Haddon (re-read) • Null Entity by Seth Haddon

For whatever godforsaken reason my dreams last night were positively infected (pun intended!) by cockroaches!! Every new “scene” featured at least one new cockroach!! Whyy!!! What did I do to deserve such horror!!!

I loved this book! As a body horror enjoyer, this really hit the spot: so gooey and gross and terrifying in the best ways. The story was really compelling and fast paced and it only got faster by the end!

Lesser Hungers is my horror debut, starring a blue collar nonbinary lesbian with something (?) haunting their blood, their 100 year old ghost girlfriend, and sentient cannibal mold. The reviews speak for themselves! www.amazon.com/Lesser-Hunge... Also in audio: haruspex-audio.com/products/les...

We’re so ATL 🫰 Today, the NWSL’s 17th club unveiled it’s name and crest: Atlanta City FC. Sound off for ATL, coming in 2028!

Finished reading The Duke by Anna Cowan and oops maybe I’m not a Romance™️ hater after all? Maybe I’ll have to eat my words? Also, as a person who replies “thighs” when asked “boobs or ass?” this book said “I got you, don’t worry” 🦵😉

going insane because you traveled interdimensionally or met aliens or met god is understandable. but going insane because you used a computer chat program is just embarrassing
