Today I was teaching my students about the Proclamation of 1763, issued by King George III after the Seven Years’ War. It prohibited American colonists from settling on or purchasing lands west of the Appalachian Mountains in an effort to prevent costly conflicts with Indigenous peoples.

And guess what date King George III issued it? October 7, 1763. Today was October 7. 263 years later, I was teaching it without even realizing it was the anniversary. Sometimes history has perfect timing.

see women’s bodies as things to possess, consume, trade, judge, or abuse. Those lessons don’t suddenly begin in college. Boys can encounter pornography and highly sexualized content online long before they have the emotional maturity to understand intimacy, consent, or healthy relationships. 6/

Social media can then amplify influencers and communities that explicitly demean women or treat relationships as contests of male dominance. Maybe the question we should have been asking after the Access Hollywood 7/

Not a woman. Not a fellow student. Not a human being with agency over her own body. A body being offered up for other men to use. And that is the connection I can’t stop thinking about. “Grab ’em by the pussy.” “Free pussy upstairs.” 4/

These are radically different circumstances, and allegations in a lawsuit are not established facts. But the language reflects something we still have not adequately confronted: a culture that can teach boys and men to 5/

9/11 was 25 years ago & the day never gets easier. My memories of that day are just as sharp today as they were a year right after the attack. I will never post images of the planes hitting the buildings though. I prefer to post this image every year.

Wilco’s “Jesus, Etc.” came into my life in the period after 9/11, and I will always associate it with that time. There was something about hearing “tall buildings shake” in a world where I had just watched the unthinkable happen that stayed with me.

But I believe that what we can control is our collective humanity. And the way we attain it & strengthen it is by getting off our technology & engaging in conversations with other humans. Turning our orbit around.

I remember the countless times my family drove into NYC from NJ, Motown on the car stereo, always feeling that soaring wonderment watching the Manhattan skyline. I still hate being in the vicinity of what became Ground Zero. I’ve never been to the memorial.

We didn’t just lose the Twin Towers that day. We lost a city that will never be the same again. The attack also led to forever wars and so much death & destruction across the globe.

Thank you for sharing my story and thank you @obwax.bsky.social and TIME for writing about it

High school students will still have access to AI with some restrictions, and teachers will be able to use approved AI tools. What do you think about the moratorium? What concerns do you have? If you could, what would you ask the mayor about AI in our schools? 2/

This is exactly how AI should not be used in the classrooms. They want to find a way to eliminate public schools altogether. A first big step is replacing teachers with tech and this only hurts America’s kids. Also, if you talk to kids, they don’t want AI & humanoids replacing their teachers.

Linda McMahon on successful uses of AI in classrooms: "The first couple hours every day students really have on headphones, they're in front of their computers, they're getting their subjects fed to them...the beauty of that is the student almost has a one-on-one tutor...I have seen it work so well"

Exactly!!!

Linda McMahon really thinks this is ok.. OMG AI and screens substituting for real humans at the beginning of every day Schools are essentially human endeavors. Forget the education issues, starting school like this every day is not how you connect with children x.com/atrupar/stat...
