Begging these little baby tankies to read ANY history book. Not just airy-fairy praxis that ignores real world consequences. "I'm not voting." Ok. That's your right. That is not going to save you. In fact, it's going to make things worse. Not trying to tell people not to be angry. Just be smart.

Maybe it's the dumb autistic woman being awake at 4am, but I genuinely do not understand people refusing to vote against Republicans. Do I hate Trump and everything he stands for? Yes! Do I think establishment Democrats are pathetic? Also yes! But like ... I really must be missing a step.

I literally can't think of any other logical reason why people willfully refuse to entertain the concept of harm reduction. It's like Palestine. Refusing to vote for Kamala bc she didn't immediately say she'd isolate Israel means Trump got in, and Trump is doing everything you hate on steroids.

Ok, so you don't vote, or you vote for some party that gets 200 votes every 4 years. Your conscience is clean. Do you really not understand that that means the bad people win? That Repubs vote in lockstep? Maybe you don't care bc you want to burn it all down? Selfish and arrogant, but plausible.

Can everyone please stop dying? A dog I've followed on YouTube for ten years just died in a similar way to how we lost our soul cat, and I don't know, I kind of just realized why the world has felt extra cold lately. The wrong people are leaving it.

Not liking the talk about John Fetterman, but also I'm torn on how to discuss it without being ableist. Disabled people can 1000% be in government - look at Senator Duckworth - but I also think Fetterman's stroke radically altered his brain and makes him unfit. Idk. #ableism #butfettermanalsosucks

I'm going to start blocking all the foreigners who are basically demanding we all die in poverty because we should be protesting. Either that or I'll put up a Gofundme to pay everyone's bills when we get fired. They can fucking chip in first.

A cautionary tale for those who don't read legal opinions. United States v. Anderegg was decided about five days ago and immediately there was outcry about how the 7th Circuit had "legalized CSAM." (For those of you who don't know, that's an acronym for horrific things involving children.) 1/

What to do if you're angry about this? • Find a case that can challenge this and get the Supremes to rule correctly on it (not likely, but hey, you asked). CSAM is one of the most foul, disgusting things on the planet, but this opinion doesn't legalize it. It carves out a narrow exception. 9/

It's crucial to protect our children, of course - but part of that is learning to parse your sources and not give in to cheap alarmism. I'm not saying I love the Supreme Court or our legal system. But I am saying to take it for what it says and not for what the fearmongers tell you. 10/10 #lawsky

The Court's words, from the opinion: "Given the relentless advancement in [AI] models, we have some concerns about the lines these cases draw, but we are not free to redraw them ourselves." Tl;dr The court wants to make virtual CSAM possession illegal, but can't bc of its role in the process. 7/

So, TL;DR part 2? • The law against possessing CSAM is still valid; • The law against possessing virtual CSAM in one's own home has not changed; • This one defendant's conviction for possession was dismissed bc of how the law is currently (something both the court and I are displeased with). 8/

Back in 2002 you could look at an AI image of a human & know clearly that it was AI. In 2025-26, that's significantly more difficult, so there's a real possibility that kids could be harmed & creators could lie about it. HOWEVER. This case isn't a referendum on virtual CSAM. It's an appeal. 5/

On appeal, a court is restricted in what it can decide. It can only weigh in on the questions that were raised in the appeal itself. So it can't say, no, this law is messed up & all CSAM is obscene. All it can do is rule on how it applies to Anderegg, the defendant. And the court says so clearly. 6/

The first is Stanley v Georgia, and the second is Osborne v. Ohio. The first case states that the 1st Amendment permits possession of "obscenity" in one's own home. The second, which came earlier, forbids the possession of CSAM that features actual, living children. As it should, obviously. 3/

The key word, as many of you have no doubt guessed, is ACTUAL children. There was a case called Ashcroft v Free Speech Coalition which addressed possession of virtual CSAM, as they called it - but that case was from 2002. In 2002, the models for creating virtual humans were painfully bad. 4/

Curious, because I didn't think even in this administration a court would "legalize CSAM," I took a look at the opinion. The 7th Circuit has a reputation for solid ruling, but every so often they do go off the wall. The opinion interprets Anderegg through 2 other major cases: 2/

I hate, with the deepest fiber of my being, when someone posts fearmongering articles without any other commentary. It's like, okay I have this information now. What should I do without any kind of action plan? I can't stand journalism that does nothing but make you panic.

This is the endgame, and so many of you just don't care.

They have every intention of rigging this election and trying to steal it And these are the same people who spent a decade falsely claiming elections are rigged It's the biggest, longest con in U.S. political history, and the whole country is its victim

America was never great.

NEW FROM ME: On a hellish third-country removal flight last month, passengers say ICE-contracted guards got drunk, teased and beat them, tied them up, refused to let them use the lavatory. One says he witnessed an ICE agent admit to illegal chain refoulement. prospect.org/2026/08/31/w...

I see this a lot: “Autism isn’t cute or quirky, it makes my life hell, & anyone finding pride in it is diminishing my pain.” Listen. You are going to be autistic your whole life. It will not go away. You can choose to hate every second of it, or you can look for ways to like yourself./

I've always said that I can't fully disengage from the news or from politics because it would feel utterly hypocritical. My parents are both journalists. But ... genuinely ... how do I stay even a tiny bit engaged/be able to look at myself in the mirror when the news makes me despair? #NEISVoid

The cruelty is the point.

Good reminder of how hard it is to access health insurance for people who are disabled by their conditions but in the waiting period for coverage for SSDI/Medicare. The mortality during the wait period for people with cancer (neoplasms) is nearly 40%. www.healthaffairs.org/doi/epdf/10....

Wow. I shared my experiences of getting healthcare here and abroad and this guy freaked OUT. He basically chewed me out and said I knew nothing about Italy or Israel and how dare I insinuate they wouldn't accept me, and then blocked me. I got nothing. Neurotypicals are so fucking weird.

Found an interesting book allegedly about the Crusades from the Muslim side. Author is described as someone who was "canceled for his candor," and his books have been featured on "Bannon's War Room." Ugh. Deleted, debating burning my kindle.

The Imagination Library is a truly wonderful thing, a beautiful idea that meant so much to so many people at home and all over the world

Alex Zalben@azalben.bsky.social

Here's the official announcement of Parton's passing from her reps, along with the request that in lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library at www.imaginationlibrary.com

Fuck, this really hurts. Normally I'm mildly saddened by celebrity passings, because I mean, I didn't know them. But this one ... this woman has been such a force for good for so long. It sucks. Normally I would say, may her memory be for a blessing, but with this one I'm pretty sure it will be.

Doubt anyone cares super super deeply (just stating the truth, not being passive-aggressive), but I need a break. I'll probably be back soonish but right now I'd prefer to play video games and not think about how it seems like the entire world hates my community.

I just want to ask every one of these hateful fucks pretending #neurodivergence isn't real, that our pain is a tiktok trend: what did we EVER do to you? How did we harm you? By existing? By needing help sometimes? Leave us alone. All we want is to exist with dignity - whether you want us to or not.

I have to take a friend to a doctor's appointment, but then I get to go home and play #TheSinkingCity2 since tomorrow is my day off. A game described to me as Resident Evil meets Lovecraft? Say less! (Also, its company, Frogwares, is Ukrainian. Support our friends in Ukraine. 🇺🇦)

People are SUFFERING. We have to stop acting like everything is okay. It’s not okay. The conditions under which we ALL are living are killing us.

Omg. Higashino Keigo died last month & I didn't find out until now. I am legitimately so sad. There won't be any more Galileo! If you've never read anything of his, THE DEVOTION OF SUSPECT X is one of the best mystery novels I've ever read. Even if I had to do it in translation. #booksky #mysteries

More vaccine bullshit. All of it because they hate us. Is our existence so offensive to you?

Dr. Lucky Tran@luckytran.com

Important: Trump’s executive order is NOT legislation. Though the executive order promotes more misinformation about vaccines, nothing has changed about the availability of childhood vaccines. For evidence-based guidance, please follow and share American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations.

Vaccines do not cause autism. Autism is not something to be fixed. Autism is not something to be cured. My autistic friends, you are autistic joy. Thank you for being wonderful you ✨ Sincerely, Your Autistic Library Friend 💛

there should be zero extra steps for a person with ADHD to get their monthly medication. we barely remember to take it, let alone make five phone calls, spin in a circle three times, and do a dance of medication availability.

This is actually a fascinating article, though I didn't have high hopes. The intersection of capitalism and #neurodivergence is one I haven't studied much, but there is a lot to be said for one affecting the other.

Ann Memmott@annmemmott.bsky.social

www.linkedin.com/pulse/narrow... What a write up! Goodness me, this is good. About e.g. the 'rise' of autism and ADHD. And why the world simply made us visible, then blamed us for it.

I do actually have a point to make about scholarship & The Anarchy. #medieval Alison Weir, normally a semi-competent historian, has an inexplicable hate-on for Empress Matilda. She credulously quotes biased sources and straight-up buys into the sexist myth that Matilda was bitchy because menopause.

Women perpetuating misogyny drives me bonkers. Weir can't seem to fathom that Matilda acted exactly as her father would have - but since she was female, it wasn't considered acceptable. 🤦‍♀️ Sexism plus poor scholarship means I'm avoiding her books & so should any half decent historian. #medieval

I'm 43 and was dx'd at 28. I'm a law school graduate, I've passed the bar. I can have a coherent conversation most days. I can type, do dishes, and work (at the right job). But because I appear normal, no one takes it seriously when I say I need help or can't do something. #autistic

I am one of those 'high-functining' autistic folk who made a lifelong struggle of it. Diagnosed at 67, I've been refocusing and laying down much of that struggle. The cost to my relationships, employment, and health were enormous.
