So - OMB is taking taxpayer money and giving it to the Ballroom. Your money; my money. For the fucking ballroom. What is we all just decided, once and for all, to stop paying those taxes that support all the grift? What if we did. I am so mad.

"Doctor, I don’t mind being called a brilliant tyrant dictator, but I don’t want to be called dumb,’” the president continued. Let's make the dumb bunny unhappy....

THIS is insane. THIS is why normal people reading this stop their brain from trying to figure out how this Country got so stupid, and instead actually considers, for the first time - where the fuck should we move to?

30 percent of Americans are against [squints at notes] the Pope urging peace

I see the Iranians are "turning to Moscow" and their Foreign Minister is in Russia to talk with Putin. No doubt to get some pointers on how to deal with the Madman...

Lindsey Graham has apparently forgotten that ICE has been murdering people left and right; Trump only TACOed because he wanted to save face. If Graham is true to his word, he should renounce Trump now.

Thank you, Aaron Ruper, for doing out dirty work today - listening to this Administration tout an historic failure as an overwhelming victory (talkin' to you, Hegseth!).

For once, a brilliant move by the Senate -- even if it was only 5% of the institution. The DHS funding bill - stripped of ICE and CBP - was indeed a bipartisan, sneaky act by 2 Rs, 2 Ds, and an I. No Senator not present has objected to the actual passage of the bill. Brilliant! Got it done!!

I fail to see how a girl's elementary school in southern Iran posed a terroristic threat to the USA. Of maybe this is Trump imposing anti-DEI on Iran...just kill the girls.

So -- "Trump commemorates Feb. 22 as ‘Angel Family Day,’ remembering victims of undocumented immigrants" - I wonder when he's going to commemorate a day as "Tortured Families Day", remembering the victims of his Gestapo police?

I sure hope someone asked Mike Johnson what he thinks of the video of Renee Good being murdered. And I sure hope he said: "I have no comment; I haven't seen that; I don't know anything about that." Please someone, tell me that's what happened. It would so restore my faith in that weasel.

I initially wondered how Trump could possibly top all the destruction he wrought in 2025, and then 2026 started... It's getting to the point where I just delete all the newsletters in my inbox because I can't stand to find out more bad news.

Why is Dan Quinn not on the list of fired coaches? Maybe my list just hasn't been updated? Or maybe Josh Harris is busy today? Ex-cruuuuu-tiatingly poor time management..Absolutely NO DISCIPLINE on the front line...the list goes on. He can't still be pulling a paycheck...!!!

How can anyone look at the Year in Pictures/Immigration and not think we will all remember. While it all happened, we were overwhelmed and inundated, and most likely it didn't all register. Take a few minutes; look at the pictures; consider the impact. This Administration has no humanity.

I am getting REAL TIRED of everyone blaming the Democrats for the shutdown. Why did they do it? To get Obamacare subsidies extended. What was Trump’s health plan proposal on the subsidies…extend them! The Rs could have, at any time, opened the government. And extended the subsidies. REAL TIRED.

So MTG thinks some individual or some country is putting pressure on Trump to not release the Epstein files. She DOESN't pose the question her assertion raises: what leverage does this individual or country have on Trump that would merit this kind of pressure????

Everyone of the people who work for Donald Trump is cruel. He is cruel; his kids are cruel; his cabinet secretaries are cruel (Rollins licks her lips at the thought of stopping SNAP; Rubio thinks fat people are some kind of drain on America; etc.); Miller, Leavitt, Bondi...the list goes on. Cruel.

So. For weeks, the Rs have been asking the White House for help to solve the shutdown, all the while saying only the Dems can start the flow of money & get feds back to work. Miracle of miracles, Trump finally tells the Rs to do away with the filibuster - they did it for nominees - and open it up.

Kudos to the Democrats standing firm against the regime in their underhanded attempt to "pay" the military and the furloughed federal employees. They absolutely should not cave to the Republicans - who all along could have opened the govt and paid everyone on September 30, or Oct 5 or the 6 or 7 or..

I am always surprised how apparently ill-informed our country's Republican leadership is. Ask them a question about something happening that the whole world knows about and has seen videos of, and they're like "I haven't heard/seen/read anything about that so I can't comment"...Mike Johnson...

The fact that Friday, the CDC laid off thousands of employees, only to rescind their layoffs over the weekend because of "public outcry" and not because they did something horribly stupid, is evidence enough that this Administration is totally fucked up.

Enough with the "Democrats should be a responsible governing partner"! Rs have been having it their way all year (they don't 'govern'!). Rs could open the government today. But they don't want to- they think the public is stupid and will blame the Ds, and they want above all to make Trump happy.

I don't understand why Trump and Vought think threatening to fire thousands of fed emps would make Democrats vote for the CR. Even if Dems voted for it, Trump can and will still fire thousands. What am I missing? When they were in session, Trump even cut the appropriated funding - nothing stops him.

@schumer.senate.gov DO NOT let the "centrist "Democrats" abandon your stand. It's way past time to stand up to the bully, since his own people - who admit he's unwell! -won't do it. DO NOT GIVE IN. And no not let the Rs peel off votes to get the Republican CR pass. Don't give up; don't give in.

Don't you just LOVE how this Administration- with all the deep-throated support of the Republican Party - are happy to use federal employees as pawns in their stupid games? And don't you just LOVE how the Rs really think we don't know what they're doing?

If Vought is allowed to pursue his agenda of cutting funding for projects in blue staates/ firing federal workers/ axing programs to help middle & lower income households, ANY Democrat who votes for the R's CR should be considered a traitor. Rs think they have the moral high ground; they are WRONG.

I'm not given to conspiracies...but why is all the military brass here in DC on the day the government shuts down? Could a takeover be in the offing tomorrow? Is Pete undertaking a coup?????
