Compulsive truth seeker, oscillating between despair and hope. People who use their real names on social media are either incredibly brave or incredibly stupid. Yes, I am aware of the contradiction.

They say better late than never, but in science we know there is such a thing as a tipping point. It’s the point where late is terminal. Late is untreatable. Late is dead.

I went to an ESL school for elementary grades, in which there was a Native American class. We had to take it at every grade level and had regular “auditorium days” where the entire school would take part in aural traditions. I don’t know of another public school to make it a requirement.

Respect to my first humans today and always on Indigenous Peoples Day. 🌊🌊

Just delightful.

Last month, we refurbished 10 tennis courts in Crotona Park — the only public tennis courts in the Bronx with lights for night play. We stopped by recently to see how things were going. Thank you to NYJTL, USTA and Yonex for helping us deliver high-quality public spaces that New Yorkers deserve.

Bloomberg reports that officials directly involved in an internal Pentagon investigation found that Peter Thiel’s Palantir Maven Smart System played a significant role in the February 28 U.S. strike on the Shajareh Tayyebeh Elementary School in Minab, Iran.

DOGE was sold as a “massive money-saving operation.” But it actually saved nothing. The story was always about gutting the federal workforce and reshaping the agencies themselves. A new GAO report estimates federal agencies spent $9.5 billion on paid administrative

Independent media is out there and growing. We need to elevate their reporting instead of NYT and WaPo. I’m grateful for the expats from the Sinclair-captured Balto Sun creating TheBaltimoreBanner.com They are doing a super job getting local where a lot of govt policy really affects people.

Power rests in truth. Even if the truth is awful. It’s still the truth. And just like physical wounds, exposing the sick is the only way to move beyond infection.

These records prove what families and first responders have long known: City government knew the conditions around Ground Zero were dangerous — yet lied to New Yorkers.

Every day I wake up knowing that this insane administration is going to make me want to scream. It is so nice to have NYC balance that out with goodness. It’s nice to cry with joy.

In NYC, Mayor Mamdani has launched the Office of Worker Power, designed to connect workers who want to unionize with education and resources. Former US Labor Sec Julie Su is overseeing the effort & the executive director comes from the UAW. "When workers can organize, everything changes," said Su.

Labor Day, aka the day of irony, where the masses work in service and healthcare for poverty wage while the rich land and company owners enjoy a boozy, bougie Socialist holiday honoring the working class who violently fought for basic workers’ rights, while our gov’t strips away human rights. #USA

Jackson Mayor John Horhn said of the ruling: "We are pleased that the Fifth Circuit upheld the dismissal of these claims. The City remains committed to the health, safety, and well-being of every Jackson resident." He said that with a straight face.

What a silly question. How else would you make money off of the proletariat? Or even more salient, how would everyone else know that you are ✨bougie like that✨?

If we are going to allow cybercabs with no steering wheels or pedals to shuttle people around, why not just build trains? They are safer than car accidents

1/ Just in: An anonymous federal worker has filed a whistleblower disclosure warning that the U.S. Postal Service's attempt to create a system to regulate mail voting for the midterms has been "rushed, chaotic, and fundamentally flawed." @propublica.org has the details 👇

This part. Knowing about it climate change, being capable of diverting it, and doing nothing or not enough when you could do more—it’s terrorism.

LorennaCleary.bsky.social@lorennacleary.bsky.social

And unlike 9/11 it wasn’t a terrorist attack. But it was even faster and like a terrorist attack, it was man caused.

Me: Look at this! Friend: Wait. That’s understandable! Me: I know! Right? Friend: Are we mad about this? Me: That we didn’t figure this out sooner? Friend: Yes. Me: Yes.

I assume it was ignored because most people don't write recipes in Excel spreadsheets.

Many many reasons why Costco is a great business. Are they perfect? No one is. But they’re a welcome harbor in this storm.

Allison Gill@muellershewrote.com

Costco runs it's own rigorous food inspection program. And they didn't bend the knee on DEI. Plus, they dropped Callaway Golf after their horrific ad depicting violence against women. And they are refusing to carry trump meat. So that's where I'll be shopping.

Science is also emotionally difficult to perform, because you have to be humble enough to know you don’t know what you don’t know, and that someone else may know more than you, and also, what you think is true might not be true. Admitting mistakes and making reparations takes courage.

How do we build an America where all of our children, regardless of the color of their skin or where they grew up, have the basic things that they need in their lives? My life’s work has entirely been about dignifying that and answering this question.

Sounds like a way better process than the over 15 years of construction that took place in Chicago. I swear it only got finished because the DNC came a few years ago.

We're done kicking the can down the road. Here's how we're fixing the city-owned section of the BQE.

This is why Spider-Man is my favorite MCU hero. 😆🤩

Gary, Indiana is 77% percent Black. Thousands have been without power for nearly two weeks. Many are without safe water. Yet every data center is operational & using enormous amounts of both power and water. This is what oligarchy looks like. Everyone suffers so the 1% can make even more.

Every city and town deserves this kind of governing.

Wage theft is theft. Tenant harassment is illegal. Those who defraud vulnerable New Yorkers will be held accountable. We are working with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to share real-time information and crack down on crimes that target workers and consumers.

Per the senator: public comment is now open for the Trump Admin’s attempt to rescind the "Roadless Rule," which protects millions of acres of national forests, including the Chequamegon-Nicolet Nat’l Forest …from road construction, logging, and other commercial development.

You know where else China is way ahead of us? Reading comprehension. Mathematics. An understanding of needs. All resulting in their buying up farmland and water rights in the USA.

The Fifth Dentist@fifthdentist.bsky.social

The usual excuse behind the rush to build these data centers is "we can't let China get ahead of us". But we seem to have no problem letting China lap us when it comes to renewable energy. Odd, ain't it?

Good grief, Illinois. Wtf. You’re smarter than this. Get it together.

US child vaccination rates have plunged since before the pandemic, with kindergarten classrooms in more than 70% of counties now lacking herd immunity against measles.

Chicago’s mayor could and should take a page from NYC. Improved traffic flow. Better parking. Better lighting. Could all go a long way.

It's not enough to help NYC small businesses open their doors, you have to bring customers through them. From brighter lighting to cleaner streets, we're investing $8.4 million in neighborhood improvements to bring more foot traffic and customers to 20,000+ small businesses.
