Are the best days “u” shaped or “n” shaped? And by best, do we mean fulfilling, or draining? Bliss or Horror? Which are most emotionaly traumatic? Is it the “M”’s or “W”’s? The tilde’s? Do you prefer the ‘pipe’? The Em Dash?

Got out of the house today and went to the Colorado Pen Show. A pleasant surprise was my sweetie winning the door prize raffle! A fairly expensive pen. Not the prettiest, but it’s more about the feeling than the looks. So we bought ink, and some paper. And went home. A nice, profitable day.

Until then my dishwasher has also died. This will be extra fun because the flooring blocks removing the device without also removing the flooring around the device. This will not be pretty

I know no one has (very few do) money, but a club I used to attend (503C I think?) had a fire, and is fundraising to renovate. Hundreds of thousands of people have met to dance, meet and talk, and develop years long relationships there. What we used to call socialize. www.denverturnverein.com

denverturnverein.comThe Denver Turnverein | dance | Denver, CO, USAThe Denver Turnverein is the Denver community's destination for dance lessons, parties, and the arts.

It’s been going since the 1930’s, and most recently has hosted different groups every night of the week. There’s Salsa, Swing, Tango, Jitterbug, and Country. I’m not sure what all.

Anyway if I had one piece of advice for the incel types, or anyone who wants to meet people and feels a little awkward, for the gregarious outgoing or anybody’s wallflowers, whatever. If you are bored or lonely find a place like this. Take a class. You _will_ meet and interact with lots of people.

I found out recently that my local university has a Meritus Scholarship program which allows you to audit classes for free. (with several restrictions) I looked into it and you do get a .edu email address, which is usually all it takes to get student discounts on hardware and software!

Another artifact from the basement. It’s a promotional set of records to help you learn French. Bob was a newspaper man up in Longmont years ago. I also worked briefly for The Rocky Mountain News before it was destroyed by rapacious greed and the consolidation of journalism across the board

I’ve been out on an FMLA leave taking care of my partner all this month. So I’ve had even less time than usual to post anything. Plus I’m quiet (mostly) anyway. But I’ve learned a lot, taking care of almost all the cooking, laundry, shopping, cleaning etc.

Into fixing or cleaning above the backlog. Can’t get distracted from my goal. I got set up with an online yoga class which suits me, and learning Japanese as I do hope to return there someday. I’m going to try to fix my webpage. I started a budget. I’m digging into unseen areas of the basement

I’m definitely driving the old ‘72 Volvo, I’m feeding Gary’s feral cats (short term), chasing down a bunch of medical bills and getting a couple of appointments in for myself as well. I’ve had to triage a number of competing medical issues between both of us. Oh! And processing roasted green chilies

We’re closer to fine now tho’, so I’m hoping to do more. And taking care of myself as well. What a difference to not have work crowding out 1/3 of your life! To be able to just be with your lover, to appreciate what you have! Lots of room for improvement but I am holding back on throwing myself

I gotta say again that if possible, you should question each and every insurance claim or medical bill! I could have paid the $134.40 but I called and hung out on the phone or on hold for a full hour! However I do not have to pay the $134 and I will get a $50 refund as well. Painful but worth it.

Related I found a pharmacy that sells (sold) an OTC i take for $8.33 for 40. The manufacturer found out about this and now the same package (brand, extended release) costs $30.00. This is profit by “policy” No reason other than not letting someone get a better deal.

Also this old box. It dates to the early sixties. A promotional item from Domino Sugar. Something gleams inside. We’re on an orange shag carpet, also from the 70’s.

@erniebufflo.bsky.social And (as I understand it) the organization of the assembly works is similar to the way our US democracy was described to us as children. But for real. This will happen from the ground up, but it will happen. Presbyterians are not “top down” as the RC is (when the SSPX obey)

rahaeli@rahaeli.bsky.social

In other "excellent news from religious bodies", the US Presbyterian General Assembly has formally voted to start the process to (correctly) declare white Christian nationalism a theological error incompatible with the teachings of Jesus: pres-outlook.org/2026/07/pcus...

I had a lovely convo today. I’m the customer, making chit-chat with the person helping. The subject veered off a bit and I said “never discuss religion or politics” which is maybe an American saying? Anyway he replied saying something about God. Not sure exactly what.

and we should be able to discuss God whether he, she, or something else. I replied that I thought I knew “where you’re coming from”. And he tells me “I’m from Iran”. So I said I didn’t mean from physically, but spiritually.

Then he comes back and tells me, if you are speaking with someone intelligent you can talk about anything. But if they are not intelligent they might be upset about almost anything. Even your hairstyle! He’s shaved bald, so I flipped out my ponytail. And we both had a good laugh.

This!!! Especially taking payment in eggs!

BREAKING--We took action today against some of the nation's largest egg producers for manipulating prices for profit. Their behavior is illegal and immoral and we’re putting a stop to it. I'll always fight for consumers against corporate abuses. coag.gov/press-releas...

My personal default breakfast is cottage cheese with whatever fruit is in season and cheap. I intersperse it with porridge and maybe an air fried hashbrown and turkey sausage if I am feeling indulgent.

I’m a Dad!! I have a little moss terrarium. There was some brown stuff in there and I thought maybe an isopod could clean up some of the dead stuff. I put only one animal in there… not sure if this change might be good or ill.
