This is the way. To truly get past nicotine, your brain needs to down-regulate the number of nicotinic receptors in your brain and resensitise to nicotine, a process that takes about three months (I think). That won’t happen if you’re still feeding yourself nicotine.

am doing it without gum/lollipops/whatever else as I've decided to just white-knuckle it and it's mostly going well, except that now I'm out of the house and realising that my main coping mechanism, "screaming for a few seconds", just doesn't really work as well in public

Apologies in advance - the tipping point for this site aligns, unfortunately, with the time of year at which I wang on incessantly about mince pies (which I love) and those who make them (about whom I’m less fond), and pass judgement. For the 4 or 5 people currently following, it’ll be over soon…

Anyway, before this starts, my priors: 1. Mince pies should have a pastry lid 2. Booze and butter 3. I’m not doing any other Christmas adjacent festive treats - I need to make it to Xmas, for the sake of my children, without coronaries furred with stollen, unmistaken for Father Christmas himself

You are up to date.
